The Northeastern League was a minor league baseball league that last played in the 1934 season as an eight–team Class B (baseball), Class B level league. The 1934 league franchises were based in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. An earlier Northeastern League played as an Independent baseball league, Independent league in 1887 and 1895 to 1896, with teams based in New York (state), New York and Vermont. Montpelier, Vermont
Montpelier () is the capital city of the U.S. state of Vermont and the seat of Washington County. The site of Vermont's state government, it is the least populous state capital in the United States. Cambridge ( ) is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. Cambridge Cantabs
The Cambridge Cantabs were a minor league baseball team based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1934, the Cantabs briefly played as members of the Northeastern League before relocating during the season. The Cantabs played home games at Russell Field. History The 1899 Cambridge Orphans played in the New England League before the franchise transferred to Lowell during the season. The Watertown Townies were a minor league baseball team based in Watertown, Massachusetts. In 1934, the Townies played a partial season as members of the Class B level Northeastern League. Watertown hosted home minor league games at Victory Field. History Minor league baseball played its only season in Watertown, Massachusetts in 1934. Springfield Ponies was the primary name of minor league baseball teams based in Springfield, Massachusetts that played between 1893 and 1943. The team competed as the Ponies through its history except for single seasons as the Maroons (1895), Tips (1915), and Green Sox (1917); and three seasons each as the Rifles (1932, 1942–1943) and Nationals (1939–1941). The team played its home games at Pynchon Park (also known as Hampden Park). The team was a member of several baseball leagues, including three that were known as the Eastern League. New Bedford Whalers
New Bedford Whalers was the name of three American soccer teams based in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The first Whalers played in the Southern New England Soccer League between 1914 and 1918. The second Whalers played in the American Soccer League between 1924 and 1931 before merging into Fall River F.C. The third Whalers were then formed when Fall River merged with New York Yankees. They played in the ASL between 1931 and 1932. The Lowell Spinners were a baseball team based in Lowell, Massachusetts. From 1996 to 2020, they were members of Minor League Baseball's New York–Penn League (NYPL) as the Class A Short Season affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. With Major League Baseball's reorganization of the minor leagues after the 2020 season, Lowell was not selected to continue in affiliated baseball. Hartford Senators
The Hartford Senators were a minor league baseball team based in Hartford, Connecticut. They operated in the Connecticut League from 1902–1912, the Eastern Association from 1913–1914, the Eastern League (baseball, 1916-32), Eastern League from 1916–1932 and the New England League#Early history, Northeastern League in 1934. For the 1932 season they were affiliated with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
