Northeast Consortium
The Northeast Consortium is a group of high schools in northeast Montgomery County, Maryland, composed of James Hubert Blake High School, Paint Branch High School and Springbrook High School. Each school in the consortium is part of a "signature program", that established specialized programs at each of the schools. James Hubert Blake High School
James Hubert Blake High School (or Blake High School) is a public secondary school located in Cloverly, Maryland. Blake is a public high school that offers a signature program in fine arts and humanities. Its mascot is Benny the Bengal, and its principal is Bob Sinclair. Northeast Consortium James Hubert Blake High School is part of the Northeast Consortium, an organization of three area high schools that allows students to select a school based on each school's signature program. The other members of the consortium are Springbrook High School and Paint Branch High School. Alumni Alumni have gone on to perform in Broadway shows, regional theater productions, as well as in other shows and theater groups throughout the country. Paint Branch High School
Paint Branch High School is a high school located in the Fairland census-designated place, an unincorporated section of Montgomery County, Maryland; it has a Burtonsville postal address. It is named after the Paint Branch creek. The school was founded in 1969 and is part of the Montgomery County Public Schools System. The school lies on Old Columbia Pike, between Briggs Chaney and Greencastle Road. Paint Branch, once a rural high school now deep in the heart of suburban sprawl, is a member of the Northeast Consortium schools in Montgomery County. International Baccalaureate
The International Baccalaureate (IB), formerly known as the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), is a nonprofit foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and founded in 1968. It offers four educational programmes: the IB Diploma Programme and the IB Career-related Programme for students aged 15 to 19, the IB Middle Years Programme for students aged 11 to 16, and the IB Primary Years Programme for children aged 3 to 12. To teach these programmes, schools must be authorized by the International Baccalaureate. The organization's name and logo were changed in 2007 to reflect new structural arrangements. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is a public school district that serves Montgomery County, Maryland. With 210 schools, it is the largest school district in the state of Maryland. For the 2022–2023 school year, the district has 13,994 teachers, 86.4 percent of whom had a master’s degree or equivalent, serving 160,554 students at its 210 schools. In 2010, MCPS was awarded a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. As of 2022, the county spends approximately half of its annual budget(46%) on its public school system.
