North Yosemite League
The North Yosemite League is a high school athletics league that is a part of the CIF Central Section. It encompasses public high schools in Fresno County and Madera, California The current NYL was formed before the start of the 1996-97 school year when the Central Section broke up the Northeast Yosemite League and Northwest Yosemite League.. The old NYL was a conference formed in 1951, and was considered the premier athletic league in the Central Section up until 1994, when it devolved into the NEYL and NWYL. Original members of the NYL include: Fresno, Roosevelt, Merced, Visalia, Madera, Hanford and Edison. In 1955, Visalia split up into Redwood and Mt. Whitney High Schools and followed Hanford out of the NYL, leaving it with 5 teams. Clovis joined the league in 1957, Bullard and McLane came on in 1959, Hoover in 1963. Reedley High School
Reedley High School was established in 1918 as the first public high school in Reedley, California, and in the Kings Canyon Unified School District. Fresno High School is a four-year secondary school located in Fresno, California. Fresno High is the oldest high school in the Fresno metropolitan area and one of the few International Baccalaureate schools. As of 2021, Linda Laettner is the 29th and current principal of Fresno High. History Fresno High School was founded in 1889. The new school quickly outgrew the available space and had to be moved to the White School, where the Memorial Auditorium is located today. Plans for a new high school building were developed. McLane High School is a 9-12 public high school in Fresno, California, United States. Located at the corner of Cedar and Clinton, it is part of the Fresno Unified School District. Programs and activities Advance Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a program at McLane that helps students to be organized and prepares them for college. AVID is a community support system which provides tutoring, career planning and mentoring. The Jason Esquivel Mural Program was established by the district to teach and promote art in 2021. Theodore Roosevelt High School (RHS), is located in southeast Fresno, California. It is a high school established within the Fresno Unified School District. The high school mascot is the Rough Rider (in physical form it is a horse) named after the 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment Theodore Roosevelt organized and helped command during the Spanish–American War.
