North West Merit League
The North West Merit League is a rugby league competition for clubs in the North West of England. It is a feeder league for the Rugby League Conference. History The Midlands Merit League was founded in late 2005 to support the growth of rugby league in non-heartland areas. Originally intended as a stand-alone league, support from the Rugby Football League meant that it could be administered as part of the Rugby League Conference set-up. Interest quickly gathered with 13 teams showing an interest in participating in the inaugural season - 8 eventually participated. The first ever game took place on 8 April 2006 at All Saints Sports College, Sheffield, where the Sheffield Forgers beat the Chesterfield Spires by 58 points to 8. Rugby League Conference National Division
The Rugby League Conference National Division (known as the National League Three From 2003 to 2003) was the fourth division of the British rugby league system. Wigan Riversiders
Wigan Riversiders are a rugby league team based in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. The first team play in the North West Premier division of the Rugby League Conference; the second team play in the North West regional division under the name Wigan Riversiders Eels; and the third play in the North West Merit League. History ''Wigan Riversiders'' joined the RL Merit League for the 2008 season. They finished third in the table and beat Nottingham Outlaws A 48-4 to reach the grand final, where they were beaten by Moorends-Thorne Maurauders A. Mancunians is Manchester's rugby league and sports club fielding several rugby and handball teams across the city at various age groups. The club is a Sports Club Community Mutual (Co-operative) and carries out development work across the city of Manchester. The club submitted an expression of interest to the Rugby Football League to join Championship 1 in 2009 and are working with the Rugby Football League to develop their application further. History ''Mancunians RL'' was formed on 2 April 2009 and joined the RL Merit League. Lymm RL is a rugby league side based in Lymm, Cheshire. They play in the North West Merit League. History Crewe Wolves entered the Northern Division of the Rugby League Conference in 1999 playing their first season at Georges Playing Fields, in their first season, Crewe Wolves Man of Steel was Chris mcgarrigle, who played In the London league for Stretham Celtic, Leicester RLFC and Stoke RLFC. In seasons 2000-2002 they played at Sandbach RUFC and 2003–2004 at Winnington Park RFC. Crewe & Nantwich Steamers started in early 2003 as a junior colts team with some senior players and then joined forces with Wolves to create one senior and one colts team under one club. Chester Gladiators Rugby League Football Club is a rugby league club in Chester, England. They play in the North West Division of the Rugby League Conference, North West Counties and the North West Merit League. The North West Men's League is a rugby league competition for clubs in the North West of England. It is a successor league for the Rugby League Conference also comprising clubs from the North West Counties League following most of the latter switching to summer to follow the National Conference League. The league replaced the Rugby League Conference North West Premier.
