North Warrnambool Football Club
The North Warrnambool Eagles Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Eagles'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based near the regional city of Warrnambool, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Hampden Football Netball League, where the football squad has played since 1997. History The club was formed in 1986 with the merger of Grassmere and Bushfield clubs. The merged club was known as Northern Districts and competed in the Warrnambool District Football League until it transferred to the stronger Hampden league in 1997. Northern Districts won the 1994 premiership in the Warrnambool DFL and was runners-up in 1992. A move to the Hampden Football Netball League and a name change to North Warrnambool, the Eagles struggled for their first season, finishing last. Michael Kol was the first coach. Hampden Football Netball League
The Hampden Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league based in South-Western Victoria, with clubs located in towns along or near the Princes Highway from Camperdown to Portland. The league is a major country league. It comprises an amalgamation of the Hampden Football League with the women's netball league with the same teams and playing draw. History The ''Hampden Football League'' was formed in 1930, when the four founding clubs broke away from the Western District FL. Terang and Camperdown did not want to continue to travel to Hamilton because their players were farmers who could not spend all day away from the farm to play football, as they had cows to milk. Mortlake agreed with Camperdown and Terang and resigned from the WDFL. Cobden was left with a predicament, and requested admittance to the new league. David Haynes
David Haynes (born 10 June 1981) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the West Coast Eagles and Geelong in the Australian Football League (AFL), and East Perth in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Originally from North Warrnambool Football Club in the Hampden Football League, Haynes played for junior club Geelong Falcons before being drafted by West Coast with the 16th selection of the 1999 AFL draft, which the Eagles had secured from Fremantle in exchange for Brendon Fewster. Haynes made his senior AFL debut in 2000 but spent most of his first two seasons in the WAFL with East Perth, where he was a member of their 2001 premiership team. A half forward flanker, he kicked 27 goals from 21 appearances for West Coast in 2003. Josh Corbett
Josh Corbett (born 23 April 1996) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), having initially been signed by the Gold Coast Suns. Early life Corbett was raised in the regional Victorian town of Warrnambool and grew up playing football for the North Warrnambool Eagles in the Hampden Football League. As a teenager, he was overlooked by his region's TAC Cup team North Ballarat but continued to make his way through the local levels of football in Warrnambool. Billie Smedts (born 8 June 1992) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club and Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by Geelong with their first pick and fifteenth overall in the 2010 national draft. He hails from Warrnambool and played in the TAC Cup for the Geelong Falcons. He made his AFL debut for Geelong in the opening round of the 2012 AFL season against at Patersons Stadium. At the conclusion of the 2016 season, he was traded to Carlton. The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League. Michael Kol
Michael Kol (born 1 January 1962) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. Kol played for Geelong Football League club Lara and the Geelong Under-19s before making his VFL senior debut in 1983. He kicked 22 goals from 18 games in 1983, to finish second behind Terry Bright in the club goal-kicking table. His twin brother, Nigel Kol, was also at Geelong in 1983 but they would appear together just once, against Sydney at Kardinia Park in round eight. Kol was one of the faster players of his generation and regularly competed in the "Grand Final Sprint".
