North Wales Rugby
North Wales Rugby (Welsh: Rygbi Gogledd Cymru) was a representative rugby union team representing Wales. They competed annually in the Welsh County Championship and represented the region against international touring teams including Tonga, Romania, Japan and Western Samoa. At age grade level they competed twice against the touring New Zealand under-21 side. The first notable player from North Wales was D.M.Johnston of the ship school HMS Conway on Anglesey, who toured South Africa in 1956 with Welsh Schoolboys. The tour party, who lost one game on the eight match tour, included Clive Rowlands who went on to gain senior Wales caps. In December 2009 at a Welsh Rugby Union press conference held at Ruthin Castle they were formally replaced by the new developmental regional rugby union team for north Wales RGC 1404. Wrexham ( ; cy, Wrecsam; ) is a city and the administrative centre of Wrexham County Borough in Wales. Steve Moore (rugby Union)
Stephen John Moore (born 20 July 1972) is a former international rugby union player. Born in Grantham in Lincolnshire, England, Moore moved to Wrexham in Wales aged seven. Following appearances for Wrexham RFC, Moore's first-class rugby career began when he was signed to play for Swansea RFC in 1991. Moore played for the club for six seasons, including their Heineken League championship winning seasons in 1991-92 and 1993–94 and their SWALEC Cup win in the 1994–95 season. His try for Swansea in their defeat against Cardiff in the 1996-97 SWALEC Cup final was the last first-class try to be scored at the National Stadium in Cardiff before its closure and demolition. Robert McCusker (born 10 December 1985) is a Welsh former rugby union player, who played across the back row. McCusker began his career with the Scarlets, and also played for London Irish and the Ospreys (rugby union), Ospreys before retiring. McCusker also played internationally for Wales national rugby union team, Wales. James King (born 24 July 1990) is a former Welsh rugby union player. A flanker or lock forward, he played for the Ospreys regional rugby side and the Welsh national side, having previously played for Aberavon. Alex Cuthbert (born 5 April 1990) is a Welsh rugby union player. Born in Gloucester, he plays on the wing for the Ospreys and the Wales national team. Early life Born in Gloucester, Cuthbert went to Newent Community School. He gained a diploma at Hartpury College before studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
