North Wales Conference
The North Wales Conference is a summer rugby league competition for teams in North Wales and Mid Wales. History The Rugby League Conference was founded in 1997 as the ''Southern Conference'', a 10-team pilot league for teams in the South of England and English Midlands. It expanded into North Wales for the first time in 2004 when North Wales Coasters joined the North West Division of the Rugby League Conference. The professional side Crusaders announced in December 2009 that they would leave the South Wales town of Bridgend an relocate to Wrexham in North Wales. On the back of this, the ''North Wales League'', a proposed feeder league for the Rugby League Conference was announced in 2010. There were intended to be four teams for the initial season: Conwy Celts established 2007 (based at Colwyn Bay); two new sides: Penrhyn Eagles (from Bangor, where there was already a university club) and Mid Wales Marauders (based in Welshpool, the only rugby league club in mid Wales) and ... National Conference League
The National Conference League (known as the Kingstone Press National Conference League for sponsorship reasons) is the top English amateur rugby league competition in the Rugby Football League pyramid, and as such is the leading amateur rugby league competition in England. Since 2012, the National Conference operates over a summer season in line with the professional game. History The league was founded as the BARLA National League for the 1986–87 season with 10 teams: Dudley Hill, Egremont Rangers, Heworth, Leigh Miners Welfare (now Leigh Miners Rangers), Milford Marlins, Millom, Pilkington Recs, West Hull, Wigan St Patrick's and Woolston Rovers. The original NCL concept was one team per town. The league added a second division in 1989, and expanded to three divisions (now named premier, first and second as opposed to first and second) along with a rebrand to the current name of National Conference League in 1993. Rhyl Coasters
Rhyl Coasters are a rugby league team based in Rhyl, Denbighshire, Wales. They played in the Rugby League Conference History The original ''North Wales Coasters'' formed in 1989 and joined the nearest district association which was Widnes in England. They played in the North West Counties Division 5 with home games played in Llandudno. Their first game was against Bradford Northern supporters club. They later also played at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan, Abergele Sports centre and Eirias Stadium, Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay. They disbanded in 1997.
