North Smithfield School District
The North Smithfield School District is a school district in the Primrose section of North Smithfield, Rhode Island. It operates two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. History During the American Revolution, one of North Smithfield's first recorded schools was founded in the home of Elisha Thornton near modern-day Slatersville. In the 1800s many local students attended the private Bushee Academy (Smithfield Union Village Academy) in Union Village. The first school building located near the present school in Primrose, Rhode Island was known as the "Andrews School," originally a one-room wooden school house, first constructed in 1838. Slatersville
Slatersville is a village on the Branch River in the town of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, United States. It includes the Slatersville Historic District, a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic district has been included as part of the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park. The North Smithfield Public Library is located in Slatersville. Slatersville was associated with and named for Samuel Slater and John Slater, members of the well-known Slater family. North Smithfield High School (known previously as North Smithfield Junior-Senior High School) is a high school in the Primrose section of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, USA (in Providence County). It is the only public high school in the town and was ranked 12th out of 51 public high schools in Rhode Island in 2022. The current principal is Amy L. Burns. Union Village, Rhode Island
Union Village or "Bank Village" is a village and historic district located in North Smithfield and Woonsocket, Rhode Island on Rhode Island Route 146A. Union Village developed because it was at the cross roads of old Great Road ( Smithfield Road Historic District) (connecting Providence and Worcester, Massachusetts) and Pound Hill Road (connecting the Blackstone River falls to Chepachet and Connecticut). History Union Village was originally named Bank Village, and was the site of the first bank in northern Rhode Island, in 1805.
