North Shore High School (New York)
North Shore High School is located in Glen Head, New York. It opened in September 1957 and graduated its first class in June 1958. The first principal was Dr. John French. The school is a part of the North Shore School District. As of 2021, approximately 878 students attend North Shore High School. The current principal is Eric Contreras. In 2021, Newsweek ranked North Shore as the 336th best public school in the country. North Shore's athletic teams are known as the Vikings, and have a long-time rivalry with neighboring Glen Cove High School. Ed Blankmeyer (born December 15, 1954) is an American professional baseball coach and former second baseman. He is the manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York–Penn League. Career Blankmeyer played college baseball at Seton Hall University from 1973 to 1976. He served as an assistant coach at Seton Hall before serving as the head baseball coach at St. John's University (New York City), St. John's University from 1996 to 2019. Eden Ross Lipson (February 2, 1943 – May 12, 2009) was an editor at ''The New York Times'', a scholar and children's books writer. Sunflower Bean is an American rock band from Glen Head, New York and Brooklyn founded in 2013. The band consists of Julia Cumming (bass, lead vocals), Nick Kivlen (guitars, backing vocals), and Olive Faber (drums). Their most recent album ''Headful of Sugar'' was released in May 2022. Career Kivlen and Faber were childhood acquaintances who both enrolled at North Shore High School in Glen Head, New York in 2009.
