Martin County, Minnesota
Martin County is a county in Minnesota, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 20,025. Its county seat is Fairmont. History The county was created by the Minnesota Territory legislature on May 23, 1857, with Fair Mount (which was also platted in 1857) designated as county seat. The town's name was later shortened to Fairmont. Two explanations have been advanced for the county's name. A delegate to the US Congress from the Wisconsin Territory, Morgan Lewis Martin, introduced the legislative act to organize the Minnesota Territory. Geography Martin County lies on Minnesota's border with Iowa. The East Fork of the Des Moines River flows southeastward through the lower western part of the county. The county terrain consists of low rolling hills, dotted with lakes and ponds, complete ...

Car 1602 suffered a runaway on the line in 1916, and a derail was installed on Lake south of Mariposa Street to mitigate future issues on the descent from Mt. Lowe. Through routing was changed in July 1923 to the Altadena via the North Fair Oaks Avenue Line, almost forming a loop service. The line north and east of Woodbury and Lake was abandoned on April 3, 1932, and the last car ran on the line on January 19, 1941. Tracks had been removed or paved over by 1981. Route The North Lake Line traveled on a double track syste ...

North Lake (Dallas)
North Lake is a reservoir located in Dallas, Texas, southeast of Coppell. North Lake Park is on its southern side. History The lake area was once a large bowl-like valley that was used for farming. Construction on North Lake Dam began in 1956 and the dam was complete in August 1957. Many of the trees where the lake was to be built were cut down, although a few small structures still exist. The reservoir was designed as a cooling reservoir for a Dallas Power and Light Company electric power plant. At that time, the City of Dallas, Texas annexed the land around the power plant and the lake. In 1978, the lake began to be used for fishing as well. Fish did not survive well due to low nutrient levels, so in 1978 the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department began fertilizing the water and stocking it with bass. The City of Irving, Texas leased land south of the lake as a park in the 1980s and 1990s. North Lake Park was popular with personal watercraft enthusiasts and provided a ...
