North Lake, Western Australia
North Lake is a suburb located south of the central business district of Perth, the capital of Western Australia, and from the Indian Ocean. Named after the eponymous lake, the suburb and lake are located within the City of Cockburn local government area. Geography The suburb is named after the lake of the same name within the locality. It is part of the northernmost lake within a chain of lakes which make up the Beeliar Regional Park (North Lake, Bibra Lake, South Lake, Booragoon Lake, Yangebup Lake, and Thomsons Lake). The lake has been known by this name since 1877, and the name was approved for the suburb in 1954. The suburb is located on the northern edge of the City of Cockburn. Electoral District Of Jandakot
Jandakot is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is based in the southern suburbs of Perth and is named for the suburb of Jandakot. It also includes the suburbs of Canning Vale (part), Forrestdale, Harrisdale, Leeming, Piara Waters and Treeby. Politically, the district is a marginal one. Based on the results of the 2005 state election, the district was created with a Labor Party majority of 53.6% to 46.4% versus the Liberal Party. Beeliar Regional Park is a conservation park approximately south of the central business district in Perth, Western Australia, located within the Citys of Cockburn, Kwinana and Melville. The regional park is named after the indigenous Beeliar people of the area. In Western Australia, regional parks consist of areas of land that have been identified as having outstanding conservation, landscape and recreation values. The park contains remnants of the Beeliar Wetlands, part of the once widespread Swan Coastal Plain. Beeliar is one of eleven regional parks in the Perth region of Western Australia. Lakeside Lightning is an NBL1 West club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 West. The club is owned and managed by Lakeside Baptist Church. The Lightning play their home games at Lakeside Recreation Centre. NBL1 West, formerly the State Basketball League (SBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Western Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Western Australia partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Western Australia. Roe Highway
Roe Highway is a limited-access highway and partial freeway in Perth, Western Australia, linking Kewdale with the city's north-eastern and south-western suburbs. The northern terminus is at Reid Highway and Great Northern Highway in Middle Swan, and the southern terminus is with Murdoch Drive at the Kwinana Freeway interchange in Bibra Lake. Kwinana Freeway
The Kwinana Freeway is a freeway in and beyond the southern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, linking central Perth with Mandurah to the south. It is the central section of State Route 2, which continues north as Mitchell Freeway to Clarkson, and south as Forrest Highway towards Bunbury. A section between Canning and Leach highways is also part of National Route 1. Along its route are interchanges with several major roads, including Roe Highway and Mandjoogoordap Drive. Thomsons Lake
Thomsons Lake Nature Reserve is a lake nature reserve around Thomsons Lake (Noongar: ''Jilbup'') in the City of Cockburn, Western Australia, approximately south of the central business district of Perth, the state capital, and on the southern fringes of the Perth metropolitan area. Yangebup Lake
Yangebup Lake is a freshwater lake in the suburb of Yangebup, south-west of the central business district of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. It is part of Beeliar Regional Park. Overview Yangebup Lake's name is derived from the Nyungar word for the locally-growing bullrush (''Typha domingensis''), ''yanget''. The lake and its name were first recorded by European settlers in 1841 while the suburb of Yangebup officially received its name in 1977.
