North Carolina Highway 308 (NC 308) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It serves mainly to connect the city of Windsor to communities and towns in eastern Bertie County. Route description NC 308 is a two-lane rural highway that traverses from US 258 and NC 561 near Rich Square to NC 32 in Pleasant Grove. The highway provides a direct link for Roxobel, Kelford, and Lewiston Woodville to Windsor, the county seat of Bertie County. Continuing east, it crosses the Roanoke River, forms a concurrency with NC 45 and North Carolina Bicycle Route 3, then connects the communities of Westover and Mackeys, before ending at NC 32 in Pleasant Grove. Rich Square, North Carolina
Rich Square is a town in Northampton County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 958 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina Micropolitan Statistical Area. North Carolina Highway 30 (NC 30) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina. NC 30 runs from US 13 and NC 11 near Bethel to NC 33 near Pactolus. While signed east-west, the highway physically travels along a southeast-northwest alignment. North Carolina Highway 12 (NC 12) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina, linking the peninsulas and islands of the northern Outer Banks. Most sections of NC 12 are two lanes wide, and there are also two North Carolina Ferry System routes which maintain continuity of the route as it traverses the Outer Banks region. Sans Souci Ferry
The Sans Souci Ferry is a cable ferry that provides access across the Cashie River in Bertie County, North Carolina. Since the 1930s, the ferry has been operated by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The ferry is located on SR 1500 south of Windsor, North Carolina. It is one of three cable ferries that are still operating in North Carolina. The others are the Parker's Ferry and Elwell Ferry. History The Sans Souci Ferry has operated in some form or fashion since at least the 1800s. It was not until the 1930s that the state Department of Transportation took over operations of the ferry and has operated it ever since. Edenton is a town in, and the county seat of, Chowan County, North Carolina, United States, on Albemarle Sound. The population was 4,397 at the 2020 census. Edenton is located in North Carolina's Inner Banks region. In recent years Edenton has become a popular retirement location and a destination for heritage tourism. Mackeys Ferry, a.k.a. Mackeys, is an unincorporated community in Washington County, North Carolina, United States. Mackeys Ferry is located in North Carolina's Inner Banks region and is located at the mouth of the Mackeys Creek on the south side of the Albemarle Sound.
