North Carolina Highway 135
North Carolina Highway 135 (NC 135), designated the J.J. Webster Highway, is a road running from Mayodan, North Carolina, Mayodan to Eden, North Carolina, Eden in the US state of North Carolina. It concurrency (road), runs concurrently with U.S. Route 311 (US 311) for most of its route. Route description History NC 135 was designated in 1967 as an upgrade of SR 2138; the highway roughly followed its current routing. In 2000, the designation shortened to end at a rerouted North Carolina Highway 770, NC 770. The US 311 designation was added to NC 135 in 2004. The highway was named after James Jefferson Webster Sr., a local store owner, dairy farmer, and politician who served as a Rockingham County commissioner from 1944 until 1952. His store was destroyed to make room for the highway's expansion. Mayodan is a town in Rockingham County, North Carolina, in the United States. It is a manufacturing site for Sturm, Ruger & Co., Bridgestone Aircraft Tire, and General Tobacco (ceased operations 2010). Washington Mills Company, later Tultex, operated a textile mill in Mayodan until 1999. Eden, North Carolina
Eden is a city in Rockingham County in the U.S. state of North Carolina. Eden is the largest city in Rockingham County and is part of the Greensboro-High Point Metropolitan Statistical Area of the Piedmont Triad metro region. As of the 2020 census, the population was 15,405. From the late nineteenth century through much of the 20th, the city was a center of textile mills and manufacturing. The city was incorporated in 1967 through the consolidation of three towns: Leaksville, Spray, and Draper. Geography Eden is located at (36.506434, -79.745092). Rockingham County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 91,096. Its county seat is Wentworth. The county is known as "North Carolina's North Star." Rockingham County is included in the Greensboro-High Point, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area of the Piedmont Triad metro region. A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. Other terminology for a concurrency includes overlap, coincidence, duplex (two concurrent routes), triplex (three concurrent routes), multiplex (any number of concurrent routes), dual routing or triple routing. Concurrent numbering can become very common in jurisdictions that allow it. North Carolina Highway 770
North Carolina Highway 770 (NC 770) is a state highway running through rural North Carolina and Eden. The road travels from NC 704 near Sandy Ridge to the Virginia state line southwest of Danville. It connects the city of Eden with US Highway 220 in Stoneville. Going east of Eden, NC 770 runs along a concurrency to its eastern terminus with U.S. Route 311 (US 311). Most of the road is two lanes wide. NC 770 is one of the few North Carolina state highways numbered in the 700s. Route description NC 770 begins at NC 704 near Sandy Ridge.
