North Carolina Highway 134 (NC 134) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The highway provides a more direct route between Troy, North Carolina, Troy and Asheboro, North Carolina, Asheboro, via Interstate 73 in North Carolina, I-73/Interstate 74 in North Carolina, I-74/U.S. Route 220 in North Carolina, US 220 or U.S. Route 220 Business (Asheboro, North Carolina), US 220 Bus. Route description NC 134 is a predominantly two-lane rural highway that begins in downtown Troy at the intersection of North Main Street and East Main Street. Going north, it travels next to Denson Creek Golf Course before becoming the eastern edge of the Uwharrie National Forest. A couple of times the national forest goes over the eastern side of the road but not many. At Beane Country Road, the Uwharrie Forest finally goes west of the road as the road continues north. Troy, North Carolina
Troy is a town in Montgomery County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 3,188 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Montgomery County. The short story by Charles W. Chesnutt, called "The Sheriff's Children," is set in Troy. History The Hotel Troy, Montgomery County Courthouse, and Troy Residential Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Town of Troy has had 12 mayors. Roy J. Maness served as Mayor of Troy from 1978 until 2018. Sherri Harris Allgood succeeded Maness as Mayor of Troy in December 2018. She is the first female and first African American to serve as Mayor of Troy. Geography Troy is located at (35.360420, -79.896412).
