The North Carolina Army National Guard is North Carolina's principal military force. The force is equipped by the federal government and jointly maintained subject to the call of either. The professional head of the North Carolina Army National Guard is the Adjutant General. Structure The North Carolina Army National Guard is organized into six major commands. 252nd Armor Regiment
The 252nd Armor Regiment is an armored regiment of the North Carolina Army National Guard, part of the 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team, which in turn is part of the 29th Infantry Division. The 252nd provides the majority of the 30th's heavy armor assets; the only other tank unit in "Old Hickory" is D Troop of the 150th Cavalry Regiment. 1st Battalion, 252nd Armor is the currently the only active unit within the regiment, fielding 3 tank companies and 1 infantry company, stationed at various locations around North Carolina. Joint Operational Support Airlift Center (JOSAC) is the airlift branch of United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM). JOSAC specializes in airlift within the continental United States. JOSAC schedules aircraft assigned to the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard and Reserve, Army National Guard and Army Reserves and the U.S. Marines. JOSAC is located at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. JOSAC was stood up in July 1996 to efficiently schedule to Operational Support Airlift assets of the Air Force, Navy, Marines and Army. 113th Field Artillery Regiment
The 113th Field Artillery Regiment is a field artillery regiment of the United States Army National Guard. History The 113th Field Artillery was constituted on 27 June 1917 following the United States entry into World War I in the North Carolina National Guard as the 1st Regiment, North Carolina Field Artillery, and organized between June and July in North Carolina. The 1st Field Artillery mustered into Federal service between 28 June and 2 August and was drafted into service on 5 August. On 12 September, it was reorganized and redesignated as the 113th Field Artillery in Federal service, joining the 30th Division. With the division, it was sent to France in 1918, attached to the British Expeditionary Force.
