Jim Perry (politician)
James Perry (born ) is a Republican member of the North Carolina State Senate, representing the 7th district. He was appointed to the state Senate on January 31, 2019 by Governor Roy Cooper Roy Asberry Cooper III (born June 13, 1957) is an American attorney and politician, serving as the 75th governor of North Carolina since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 49th attorney general of North Carolina from 20 ..., to replace Louis Pate, who resigned due to health reasons. He was chosen as Majority Whip for the 2021-2022 Biennium. Perry was challenged in the 2020 Republican Primary. Bertie County, North Carolina
Bertie County ( , with both syllables stressed) is a county located in the northeast area of the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 17,934. Its county seat is Windsor. The county was created in 1722 as Bertie Precinct and gained county status in 1739. The Sans Souci Ferry, providing access across the Cashie River, is the county's only ferry. History The county was formed as Bertie Precinct in 1722 from the part of Chowan Precinct of Albemarle County lying west of the Chowan River. It was named for James Bertie, his brother Henry Bertie, or perhaps both, each having been one of the Lords Proprietors of Carolina. In 1729 parts of Bertie Precinct, Chowan Precinct, Currituck Precinct, and Pasquotank Precinct of Albemarle County were combined to form Tyrrell Precinct. Carteret County is located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 67,686. Its county seat is Beaufort. The county was created in 1722 as Carteret Precinct and gained county status in 1739. It was named for Sir George Carteret, one of the 17th century English Lords Proprietor, or for his descendant and heir John Carteret, 2nd Earl Granville. Carteret County comprises the Morehead City, NC Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the New Bern-Morehead City, NC Combined Statistical Area. Most of the county is part of the Crystal Coast. History The first male of English parents born in the current area of North Carolina was John Fulford. Scott Thomas (born July 19, 1966) is a Republican politician and attorney who serves as the District Attorney for North Carolina Prosecutorial District 4. He previously served in both the North Carolina House of Representatives and North Carolina Senate. Early life and career In addition to his work in the General Assembly, Thomas was a partner in the New Bern law firm Chesnutt, Clemmons, Thomas, and Peacock. He quit this post upon appointment as District Attorney. His wife, Sherri, is an elementary school principal and they are the parents of three daughters. Thomas is an alumnus of East Carolina University in Greenville, NC where he earned a B.S. in Political Science and was SGA President. Vance County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 42,578. Its county seat is Henderson.
