North Avenue (Baltimore Light Rail Station)
North Avenue station is a Baltimore Light Rail station located on North Avenue (Baltimore), North Avenue (U.S. Route 1 in Maryland, US 1) near the I-83 MD, I-83 interchange in Baltimore, Maryland. The station has two island platforms serving three tracks. During the light rail's double-tracking project, when the northern section of the system was closed, the North Avenue stop was the northern terminus. The station is the final stop on train headed for the nearby maintenance facility. Murder case On November 7, 2006, a 17-year-old girl was murdered after she got off a train at the North Avenue stop in a highly publicized case that highlighted light rail safety. Two teenagers were charged for the crime, which took place during an attempt to rob the victim and her brother. A girl, 16, was sentenced to 25 years in adult prison, while a boy, 15, was tried as an adult but later transferred to juvenile court for sentencing. Route 13 (MTA Maryland)
CityLink Gold is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore. It replaced Route 13 in 2017. The line currently runs from Walbrook Junction in West Baltimore (the intersection of North Avenue, Hilton Street, and Bloomingdale Road) to Canton, mostly along North Avenue. The line has two main branches, both operating to Canton: one that operates via Fells Point (these buses are marked ''Fells Point'') and the other via Linwood and East Streets (these buses are marked ''Canton''). Both these branches serve Johns Hopkins Hospital. Additionally, selected trips on weekdays and Saturdays operate to the block of Milton Avenue, Federal Street, and Patterson Park Avenue. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons.
