Norsk Jazzforbund
Norsk Jazzforum or The Norwegian Jazz Forum (originally established in 1953, and later reappeared on June 8, 1997 in Oslo, when The Norwegian Jazz Federation and Association Norwegian Jazz Musicians fused into The Norwegian Jazz Forum) is a member and interest organization that gathers the Norwegian jazz community, and works to promote the Norwegian jazz in terms of cultural policy and the arts. Biography The Norwegian Jazz Forum was established in 1997 by the merger of 'Norsk Jazzforbund' (established 1953) and 'Foreningen Norske Jazzmusikere'. A former Norwegian Jazz Forum existed in the 60's, when Karin Krog took an initiative to give the Norwegian jazz community a voice. Today's Jazz Forum organizes jazz clubs, jazz festivals, amateur big band, professional jazz musicians and jazz five regional centers in Norway. Norwegian Jazz Forum has extensive dissemination. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with more than two million unique visitors per month. Paper editions 1978–2007 The ''SNL'' was created in 1978, when the two publishing houses Aschehoug and Gyldendal merged their encyclopedias and created the company Kunnskapsforlaget. Up until 1978 the two publishing houses of Aschehoug and Gyldendal, Norway's two largest, had published ' and ', respectively. The respective first editions were published in 1907–1913 (Aschehoug) and 1933–1934 (Gyldendal). Ole Jørn Myklebust
Ole Jørn Myklebust (born 30 April 1977 in Eidsdal, Norway) is a Norwegians, Norwegian Jazz musician (trumpet, flugelhorn and vocals), educated at the Norges Musikkhøgskole. Known for performing in Subtonic (band), Subtonic, Sigurd Køhn, Køhn/Nils-Olav Johansen, Johansen Sextet, Geir Lysne Listening Ensemble, Østenfor Sol and Dixi (band), Dixi, Myklebust has collaborated with Mari Boine and Unni Wilhelmsen. Career Myklebust was voted "The Best Young Jazz Musicians in Norway" in 2000. He has also played with the band Østenfor Sol, in addition to Mari Boine's and Unni Wilhelmsen's bands. Myklebust also works as composer, musical arranger and producer. He has composed music for TV, film, and documentaries. He came in as a substitute on the trumpet with Mike del Ferro Quintet, with among others Anne Paceo (drums), on their Norway tour in January 2012. Morten Qvenild
Morten Qvenild (born 31 August 1978) is a Norwegian jazz pianist, band leader, and producer. Career Qvenild started his jazz career in the big band Ung Musikk in 1995, followed by studies on the Jazz program at the Norges Musikkhøgskole. He used to play in ''Østenfor Sol'' with Ole Jørn Myklebust, with Myklebust's OJ Trio, Shining (1999–2003), and Jaga Jazzist (2000–2002). Since 2000 Qvenild is the "orchestra" of Susanna & the Magical Orchestra and an original member of Solveig Slettahjell's Slow Motion Quintet as well a duo partner. Beyond these enduring collaborations Qvenild is also involved in the Jon Klette Quartet, The National Bank and he toured with Nils Petter Molvær's Khmer and with Bertine Zetlitz Band (2003 and 2004). Frode Nymo (born 27 November 1975), is a Norwegian jazz musician ( alto Saxophone), and older brother of the tenor sax. player Atle Nymo. Career Nymo was born in Egersund and brought up in Valnesfjord, near Fauske. Early in his career, he was a member of the Bodø Big Band led by Henning Gravrok, and he is a graduate of the Jazz Program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium, where he and fellow students established Urban Connection, awarded the title of "Young Jazz Musicians of the Year" in 1998, at Norway's prestigious Molde International Jazz Festival, forerunner of today's Jazz Intro Award, and Spellemannprisen 2001. Håkon Mjåset Johansen
Håkon Mjåset Johansen (born 1 August 1975 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz drummer and composer, known from playing with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra featuring Chick Corea at Moldejazz 2000, cooperations with Bugge Wesseltoft's New Conceptions of Jazz, Ole Morten Vågan's Motif, Siri Gjære's Cricket Club and the Ola Kvernberg Trio. He has also contributed to releases with Jon Larsen, the Atle Nymo/Frode Nymo Quartet and Jan Garbarek. Steinar Raknes
Steinar Raknes (born 22 March 1975) is a Norwegian jazz musician (upright bass) and composer, and the younger brother of Jazz singer and pianist Eldbjørg Raknes. He is considered to be one of the most talented double bass players of his generation in Norway, and is known from collaborations with the like of Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, Bobby McFerrin, Ola Kvernberg and Hallgeir Pedersen. Urban Connection
Urban Connection is a Norwegian jazz trio who have released three albums. For their first album in 2001, they received a Spellemannprisen. In 1998, they were awarded the title of "Young Jazz Musicians of the Year" at Norway’s Molde International Jazz Festival (Moldejazz). As part of Moldejazz, Urban Connection have visited several major European festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Istanbul Jazz Festival. They released their first album, ''Urban Connection'', on 15April 2001, and were awarded the Spellemannprisen as best Jazz record of the year. For their next album. Ski () is a town and former "kommune" (municipality) in the new municipality (January 1. 2020) Nordre Follo in the greater region Follo, in Viken ''fylke'' (county), Norway. Ski is the most populous and largest town in Follo, and serves as the ''de facto'' municipality center of Nordre Follo municipality.
