Norrbotten Artillery Corps
Norrbotten Artillery Corps ( sv, Norrbottens artillerikår), designation A 5, was a Swedish Army artillery unit which operated between 1928 and 1951. The unit was based in Boden Garrison in Boden, Sweden. History On 1 April 1910, the Norrbotten Artillery Regiment's Detachment in Boden (A 4 B) was raised, and on 6 June 1910, the detachment was placed to Boden. The detachment consisted of III (Artillery) Division of Norrland Artillery Regiment (A 4). Through the Defence Act of 1925, it was decided to separate the division from Norrland Artillery Regiment (A 4), to form an independent unit. On 31 December 1927, the detachment was disbanded, and on 1 January 1928, the Norrbotten Artillery Corps (A 5) was raised as a horse field artillery corps. After World War II, the idea was that the Swedish defense would be disarmed. Sven Salander
Lieutenant General Sven Philip Salander (5 July 1894 – 31 March 1965) was a senior Swedish Army officer. He served as Commanding General of the Commanding General, V Military District from 1947 to 1959. Early life Salander was born on 5 July 1894 in Hedvig Eleonora Parish, Stockholm, Sweden, the son of captain Nils Salander and his wife Elsa Hilda Sofia Söderhielm. Salander passed ''studentexamen'' in Stockholm in 1911. Career Salander was commissioned as an officer in 1913 and received the rank of ''underlöjtnant'' and was assigned to Svea Artillery Regiment the same year. He attended the Artillery and Engineering College from 1915 to 1918 and the Swedish Army Riding and Horse-Driving School from 1919 to 1920. Norrland Signal Battalion
The Norrland Signal Battalion ( sv, Norrlands signalbataljon), designated Signbat/I 19, originally Norrland Signal Corps ( sv, Norrlands signalkår), designated S 3, was a Swedish Army signal unit, one of the few new formations raised in the 20th century. It was disbanded in 2005. The unit was garrisoned in Norrbotten. The Norrland Dragoon Regiment ( sv, Norrlands dragonregemente), also K 4, is a Swedish Army unit specialized in arctic warfare and special operations. Located in the province of Lappland, it was historically a cavalry unit that traces its origins back to the 17th century. History The regiment has its origin in the Ångermanland, Medelpad and Jämtland Regiment raised in 1646. From 1689 on, this regiment was named Jämtland Dragoon Regiment, but had only one company of cavalry troops. This company was semi-separate, with the name Jämtland Cavalry Company () and had been split off from Bohus-Jämtland Cavalry Squadron in 1670. The company was renamed in 1802 and after receiving another squadron it was organized into a battalion and renamed in 1834.
