New Milford is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. The town is in western Connecticut, north of Danbury, on the banks of the Housatonic River, and it shares its border with the northeastern shore of Candlewood Lake. It is the largest town in the state of Connecticut in terms of land area at nearly 63.7 mi² (164.9822 km²). The population was 28,115 according to the 2020 census. ''Sheriff of Sundown'' is a 1944 American Western film. Plot When cattleman Tex Jordan (Lane) and his friends Chihuahua Ramirez (Renaldo) and Third Grade Simms (Terhune) bring their cattle to market in Sundown, Texas near the Mexican border, they learn the broker Jack Hatfield (Barcroft) is using a sliding pay scale. The larger the herd, the more he pays per head, squeezing the small ranchers like Andy Craig (Kirk). When Craig threatens to disclose the practice, he is murdered.
