Norman R. Palmer
Norman Palmer (October 7, 1918 – March 23, 2013) was an American television editor for The Walt Disney Company. Palmer worked for Disney for around 45 years and served as a mentor to Roy E. Disney, who was later appointed vice-chairman of Disney productions. Palmer was born and raised in California and graduated from Hollywood High School in 1937. He joined the editorial division of Disney in 1940. Palmer edited films including ''The Living Desert'', ''The African Lion'', ''Water Birds'', '' The Shaggy D.A.'', and ''The Legend of Lobo ''The Legend of Lobo'' is a 1962 American animal-adventure film that follows the life and adventures of Lobo, a wolf born and raised in southwestern North America. Hollywood High School is a four-year public secondary school in the Los Angeles Unified School District, located at the intersection of North Highland Avenue and West Sunset Boulevard in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California. ''The Living Desert'' is a 1953 American nature documentary film that shows the everyday lives of the animals of the desert of the Southwestern United States. The film was written by James Algar, Winston Hibler, Jack Moffitt (uncredited) and Ted Sears. It was directed by Algar, with Hibler as the narrator and was filmed in Tucson, Arizona. The film won the 1953 Oscar for Best Documentary. It is featured in the 2006 DVD ''Walt Disney Legacy Collection Volume 2: Lands of Exploration''. The African Lion
''The African Lion'' is a 1955 American documentary film directed by James Algar. It was released by Walt Disney Productions as part of its ''True-Life Adventures'' series. The film, which was shot over a 30-month period in Kenya, Tanganyika and Uganda (as well as South Africa), focuses on the life of the lion within the complexity of the African ecosystem. At the 6th Berlin International Film Festival it won the Silver Bear (Documentaries) award. It was released on DVD in 2006 as part of the Walt Disney Legacy Collection. A water bird, alternatively waterbird or aquatic bird, is a bird that lives on or around water. Based upon "Lobo the King of Currumpaw" by Ernest Thompson Seton from the author's 1898 book titled '' Wild Animals I Have Known'', neither the time period nor the precise location are specified in the film; in part because the story is told as much from a wolf's point of view as from a human's.
