Norman Park ferry wharf is a ferry terminal located on the southern side of the Brisbane River serving the Brisbane suburb of Norman Park in Queensland, Australia. It was served by Transdev Brisbane Ferries' cross-river service to New Farm Park. These services were suspended in July 2020 and the wharf was permanently closed in October 2020. Norman Park is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Norman Park had a population of 6,287 people. Geography Norman Park is located by road east of the CBD. It borders East Brisbane, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Morningside and Hawthorne, and is mostly residential. Toponymy Norman Park is likely named after an early estate in the area. The estate is thought to have derived its name in the 1890s from the nearby Norman Creek, and the contemporary Governor of Queensland Henry Wylie Norman. The ''go'' card is an electronic smartcard ticketing system developed by Cubic Corporation, which is currently used on the TransLink public transport network in South East Queensland. To use the ''go'' card, users hold the card less than 10 cm away from the reader to "touch on" before starting a journey, and must do the same to "touch off" the service at the end of the journey. The cost of each journey is deducted from the ''go'' card balance. The Queensland Government awarded the $134 million contract to design, build, operate and maintain the ''go'' card system to Cubic Corporation in July 2003. In July 2006, TransLink signed up around 1,000 volunteers to trial the new smartcard system in the Redcliffe area. The Brisbane River is the longest river in South East Queensland, Australia, and flows through the city of Brisbane, before emptying into Moreton Bay on the Coral Sea. New Farm Park Ferry Wharf
New Farm Park ferry wharf is located on the northern side of the Brisbane River serving the Brisbane suburb of New Farm in Queensland, Australia. It is served by RiverCity Ferries and was also served by a Cross River service to Norman Park. The latter service was suspended in July 2020 and formally cancelled in October 2020. Geography The ferry wharf is located at the end of Brunswick Street. One of the Brisbane tramway routes ran down to the river along Brunswick Street, providing connectivity with the ferry. Today, bus services operate this route. The ferry wharf also provides access to New Farm Park and the Brisbane Powerhouse arts and entertainment centre.
