Norman MacMillan (politician)
Normand MacMillan (born December 14, 1947, in Buckingham, Quebec) is a Quebec politician, businessman and insurance agent. He was the MNA for the riding of Papineau in the Outaouais region between 1989 and 2012, representing the Quebec Liberal Party. He was the government's Chief Whip from 2005 to 2012, and President of the Caucus Chair from 2003 to 2005. Career Prior to his political career, MacMillan worked as an insurance agent between 1969 and 1972. He was also the owner of a hotel from 1972 to 1983 and the co-owner of Nord MacMillan Inc. in 2003 which operates the same hotel business. He was also the Chair of the Economic Development Committee for the region and also a city councillor for the former city of Buckingham in the 1980s. Buckingham, Quebec
Buckingham is a former town located in the Outaouais region in the western portion of the province of Quebec, Canada. Since 1 January 2002, it has been part of the amalgamated city of Gatineau, which merged five former municipalities, including Masson-Angers, Buckingham, Hull, Aylmer and Gatineau, into a single entity. 2003 Quebec General Election
The 2003 Quebec general election was held on April 14, 2003, to elect members of the National Assembly of Quebec (Canada). The Parti libéral du Québec (PLQ), led by Jean Charest, defeated the incumbent Parti Québécois, led by Premier Bernard Landry. In Champlain there was a tie between PQ candidate Noëlla Champagne and Liberal candidate Pierre-A. Brouillette; although the initial tally was 11,867 to 11,859, a judicial recount produced a tally of 11,852 each. A new election was held on May 20 and was won by Champagne by a margin of 642 votes. Stéphane Bergeron
Stéphane Bergeron (born January 28, 1965 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian politician. He currently serves as a Bloc Québécois member of the House of Commons of Canada since 2019, he had previously served in that aspect from 1993 to 2005, and a Parti Québécois member of the National Assembly of Quebec from 2005 to 2018. Bergeron has a bachelor's degree in political science from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a master's degree in the same domain from the Université Laval. Bergeron has been a political adviser and a teaching assistant at Laval in the department of political science. Bergeron also served in the Canadian Forces as a naval Cadet Instructor Cadre officer from 1984 to 1993. Pierre Moreau
Pierre Moreau (born December 12, 1957 in Vercheres, Quebec) is a lawyer and a politician in the Canadian province of Quebec. Pierre Moreau was the Liberal MNA for the riding of Marguerite-D'Youville in the National Assembly of Quebec from 2003 to 2007. He ran again in 2008 in the nearby electorate of Châteauguay, and entered Cabinet. Moreau ran unsuccessfully for the leadership of the Quebec Liberal Party in 2013, coming second to Philippe Couillard. On April 7, 2014, Pierre Moreau was re-elected for a third consecutive term in Châteauguay in an election where the Liberals formed a majority government. On April 23, 2014, Philippe Couillard named him Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy and Minister responsible for the Montérégie region. Sylvie Roy (November 4, 1964 – July 31, 2016) was a Canadian politician in Quebec and a Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Arthabaska. She previously represented the riding of Lotbinière from 2003 until 2012, initially as a member of the now-defunct Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ) until the merger of that party into the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) in 2012.
