Norman Bradford
Alfred Norman Bradford (14 August 1894 – 4 August 1916) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League. Family Son of Alfred David Bradford (1858-1941), and Margaret Mary Bradford (1865-1946), née Thompson, Alfred Norman Bradford was born at Ascot Vale, Victoria on 14 August 1894. Football Recruited from Yarraville Football Club in the Metropolitan Junior Football Association (MJFA), he played 7 senior games with South Melbourne in 1915. His first match for the South Melbourne First XVIII was against St Kilda on 24 April 1915, and his seventh and last match, prior to his enlistment was against Fitzroy on 24 July 1915. First Australian Imperial Force
The First Australian Imperial Force (1st AIF) was the main expeditionary force of the Australian Army during the First World War. It was formed as the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) following Britain's declaration of war on Germany on 15 August 1914, with an initial strength of one infantry division and one light horse brigade. The infantry division subsequently fought at Gallipoli between April and December 1915, with a newly raised second division, as well as three light horse brigades, reinforcing the committed units. Geography The commune is situated on the D929 road, northeast of Amiens between Albert and Bapaume, on the Pozières ridge. 1915 VFL Season
The 1915 VFL season was the 19th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured nine clubs, following the departure of after a seven-year stint in the league. The season ran from 24 April until 18 September, and comprised a 16-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Carlton Football Club for the fifth time and second time consecutively, after it defeated by 33 points in the 1915 VFL Grand Final. The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is the largest senior community Australian rules football competition in Victoria. It consists of seven senior men's and women's divisions ranging from Premier to Division 4. In addition there are U19's sections and five Thirds sections, primarily made up of either clubs only able to field one team, or clubs from higher sections that can field a third team after their seniors and reserves. The league operates a double promotion and relegation system between sections with various rules dictating which section clubs can play in.
