Norm Sharp
Norm Sharp (23 June 1934 – 8 October 2014) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League during the 1950s. The Camperdown Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Magpies'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Camperdown, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Hampden Football Netball League, which Camperdown is founding member, having joined in 1930. History The first Camperdown club was formed in 1877 but it disbanded within an few years with accumulated debts. A second attempt in 1883 is the club that continues today. The late 1880s and 1890s the club usually participated in a four team competition that a wealthy patron would donate a shield as a prize. Usually it was four clubs, Camperdown, Cobden, Mortlake and Terang. This arrangement continued until 1901. In August 1901, local soldier Trooper Lawrence was killed in action during the Boer War. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Carji Greeves Medal
The Carji Greeves Medal is a name given in recent decades to an Australian rules football award given to the player(s) adjudged best and fairest for the Geelong Football Club for the season. The voting system has changed a number of times. For the 2017 AFL season, the voting panel consisted of the senior coach, director of coaching and the assistant coaches rating each player out of 15 after every game. The combined votes are averaged to give a final score for that game. To ensure players are not disadvantaged by injury, only a player's highest scoring 21 games count. For the 2022 AFL season, after each game, the Senior and assistant coaches reviewed and rated each players performance out of 10. Votes were polled in games where a players performance had been deemed of a high quality by the coaching group, and unlike previous seasons all matches counted towards their final total.
