Norm McGregor
Norm McGregor was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played two seasons with the Fortitude Valley Diehards of the Queensland Rugby League competition. He also represented the Queensland Firsts at representative level. Playing career McGregor made his debut in Round 1, 1909 - the inaugural round of the QRL competition and the first ever club game of Valleys. Starting on the wing, his team lost 2-12 to the South Brisbane Magpies. The following round, McGregor scored twice against the Norths Devils (his first career tries), however his team lost 6-9. He scored another two tries in a lopsided 18-0 win against Toombul - the club's first ever win. His try-scoring streak continued with a try against Souths in Round 4, playing at centre. Fortitude Valley Diehards
The Fortitude Valley Diehards, often referred to simply as Valleys, are an Australian semi-professional rugby league football club based in the Brisbane suburb of Fortitude Valley. History Until their demise in 1995, the Fortitude Valley Diehards, were the oldest surviving rugby league team in Brisbane, Australia, being formed in, and winning their first premiership, in 1909 – also the year of the inaugural Brisbane Rugby League premiership. Queensland Rugby League Team
The Queensland rugby league team represents the Australian state of Queensland in rugby league football. Nicknamed the "Maroons" after the colour of their jersey, they play three times a year against arch-rivals New South Wales rugby league team, New South Wales in the State of Origin series. Brisbane Rugby League Premiership
The Brisbane Rugby League is a rugby league football competition in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was first held in 1922 and for every year until 1997. The competition was reinstated in 2001, known as the FOGS premiership under the Queensland Cup. The competition consists of Brisbane's top six rugby league clubs. Each participating team is a feeder club for the Queensland Cup. Prior to 1922, the competition was conducted under the auspices of the Queensland Rugby League. The Souths Logan Magpies, more commonly referred to by their former names Southern Suburbs Magpies, or South Brisbane Magpies, or often simply referred to as Souths, are a rugby league football club based in the southern suburbs of Brisbane, Australia. The Northern Suburbs Devils, or North Brisbane Devils, or often simply referred to as Norths for short, are a rugby league club representing the northern suburbs of Brisbane, Australia. The team colours are sky blue, navy blue and gold. They play in the Queensland Wizard Cup, and, through their predecessors, are one of the oldest clubs in Australia. “The Queensland Amateur Rugby League set the air-filled sphere rolling”, opening the competition rounds on 14 May. Three grade competitions were conducted in Brisbane. Ipswich entered a representative team to play the five Brisbane senior teams and also began their own club competition. Club-level rugby league was also played in Maryborough. Queensland hosted tours from England and New South Wales and representative matches were also arranged between towns where rugby league was growing. The Brisbane Tigers are a rugby league club based at Langlands Park, in the suburb of Coorparoo in Brisbane, Australia.
