Norman Edward Wells (born September 8, 1957) is a former American football guard in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. He was drafted by the Cowboys in the twelfth round of the 1980 NFL Draft. He played college football at Northwestern University. Early years Wells attended Warren Mott High School, where he played defensive tackle. He accepted a football scholarship from Northwestern University. In 1978, he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first game and received an extra year of eligibility. He returned to become a starter at right defensive tackle. In his only year as a starter he posted 65 tackles (fifth on the team), 4 tackles for loss and one interception. Norman "Norm" Smith (1 October 1946 – 21 February 2019) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Early career and Hawthorn Smith, a ruck-rover, played his early senior football at Strathmerton in the Murray Football League and won the league's best and fairest medal in 1966. Norman Walter Smith (21 November 1915 – 29 July 1973) was an Australian rules football player and coach in the Victorian Football League (VFL). After more than 200 games as a player with and , Smith began a twenty-year coaching career, including a fifteen-year stint at Melbourne. Norman Burt Sherry (July 16, 1931 – March 8, 2021) was an American baseball catcher, manager, and coach who played five seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets from 1959 to 1963. He batted and threw right-handed, and was noted for helping Sandy Koufax with his pitching control. Norman Ellard Nixon (born October 11, 1955) is an American former professional basketball player who played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Diego/Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
