Norfolk State Spartans Women's Basketball
The Norfolk State Spartans women's basketball team represents Norfolk State University, located in Norfolk, Virginia, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. They currently compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. History Norfolk State began play in 1974. They competed in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) from 1974 to 1997 before joining Division I and the MEAC in 1997. In their time in Division II, they were champions of the CIAA Tournament in 1975, 1977, 1983, 1986, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, and 1996, while competing in eight NCAA Division II Tournaments (1982, 1983, 1986, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995), reaching the Final Four in 1991. Norfolk State University
Norfolk State University (NSU) is a public historically black university in Norfolk, Virginia. It is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and Virginia High-Tech Partnership. History The institution was founded on September 18, 1935 as the Norfolk Unit of Virginia Union University. Eighty-five students attended the first classes held in 1935. Mr. Samuel Fischer Scott, an alumnus of Virginia Union and Portsmouth native, served as the first director with the primary focus of maintaining the solvency of the school. Dr. Lyman Beecher Brooks, a Virginia Union alumnus, succeeded Mr. Scott as director in 1938, and served as provost, 1963–1969, and the first president 1969–1975. The Hampton Lady Pirates basketball team is the basketball team that represents Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Colonial Athletic Association. History Hampton began play in 1975. They competed in the CIAA in their time in Division II, winning three tournament titles and four regular season titles, with three runner up finishes in the tournament final. North Dakota Fighting Sioux Women's Basketball
The North Dakota Fighting Sioux women's basketball team is part of the athletic program at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It is a member of the NCAA Division I Summit League; the 2019-2020 season was their first in the new conference. Previously they played in Division I's Big Sky Conference and Division I's Great West Conference. The first year the university fielded a women's team was in 1894. The Bentley Falcons are composed of 21 teams representing Bentley University in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, and track and field.
