Nordreisa Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Storslett, Troms, founded on 16 September 1946. It has sections for association football, team handball, orienteering, cycling, Nordic skiing, and biathlon. The men's football team currently plays in the Fifth Division, the sixth tier of Norwegian football. It last played in the Norwegian Second Division in 1999. Storslett
Storslett is the administrative centre of Nordreisa Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located at the southern end of the Reisafjorden along the mouth of the river Reisaelva. The village has a population (2017) of 1,837 which gives the village a population density of . Nordreisa Church and Nordreisa's upper secondary school are located in Storslett. The small Sørkjosen Airport is located in the neighboring village of Sørkjosen, about to the northwest. The European route E6 highway passes through this village. Norwegian Second Division
The Norwegian Second Division, also called 2. divisjon and often referred to as PostNord-ligaen for sponsorship reasons, is the third-highest level of the Norwegian football league system. There are 28 teams divided into two groups, and at the end of the season the winner of each group earns promotion to the second-highest division, 1. divisjon. The teams finishing in second place in their respective group will qualify for the promotion play-offs, where they will face each other. The winner will play against the 14th placed team in 1. divisjon for promotion. The bottom three teams in each group are relegated to 3. divisjon. 2. divisjon is the highest league a reserve team can participate in, and only reserve teams from the Eliteserien clubs (first tier) are allowed to enter. Vegard Braaten
Vegard Båtnes Braaten (born 30 June 1987) is a Norwegian footballer who currently plays for Bossekop. Career He grew up near Sørkjosen, with his twin brother and fellow footballer Thomas, and made his senior debut for Nordreisa at the age of fourteen. He joined Tippeligaen side Tromsø in 2004. He only got three league games for the club, played mainly on the reserve team, and was loaned out to Tromsdalen and Alta. In December 2008 both Thomas and Vegard Braaten were signed by Alta on a permanent basis. In June 2010 he joined Lokeren. In December 2011 he joined Bodø/Glimt from 2012, together with his twin brother Thomas Braaten. Odd-Karl Stangnes (born 28 October 1968) is a Norwegian football coach and former player, who was most recently the manager for Stjørdals-Blink. He has previously managed Swedish sides IFK Luleå and Kiruna FF. A defender during his active career, Stangnes played for two clubs in the Norwegian Premier League. The 1999 2. divisjon was the third highest football league for men in Norway. 22 games were played in 8 groups, with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws. Hamarkameratene, Sandefjord, Strindheim and Tromsdalen were promoted to the First Division through playoffs against the other 4 group winners.
