Nora Sanderson
Nora Sanderson (; 14 February 1905 – 2 March 1975) was a New Zealand writer of romance novels, children's books and short stories, and nurse. She wrote 21 novels during her lifetime, mainly for the publisher Mills & Boon. Early life and career Sanderson was born on 14 February 1905 in Ōpōtiki, Birth registration number 1905/8170, death registration number 1975/27077. the daughter of a farming family. She spent most of her children on a farm at Hokianga but attended Auckland schools. She trained as a nurse at the hospital in Rawene and worked in the Auckland area until her marriage. Her husband, Frederick Sanderson, was a Methodist minister and they had five sons and one daughter; later in life they lived in Templeton, in the South Island near Christchurch. Having written short stories for radio and newspapers since she was a teenager, Sanderson's first successful book was a children's story called ''The Puppy Cat'' published in 1953. New Zealand Women Writers' Society
The New Zealand Women Writers' Society (NZWWS), originally named the New Zealand Women Writers' and Artists' Society, was founded on 11 July 1932 in Wellington. Until its dissolution in July 1991, the NZWWS supported and encouraged women writers in New Zealand. Its activities included running writing competitions, publication of a regular newsletter, hosting events and courses, advising members on the publishing process, and publishing journals and anthologies of members' work. History The NZWWS was founded by Nellie Donovan-Hair, then aged 18, who arranged the first meeting at the YWCA clubrooms in Wellington. She later said she "had always wanted to write, but found few outlets, and I wanted to meet other young women who had the same ambitions". Romantic Novelists' Association
The Romantic Novelists' Association (RNA) is the professional body that represents authors of romantic fiction in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1960 by Denise Robins (first president), Barbara Cartland (first vice-president), Vivian Stuart (first elected chairman), and other authors including Elizabeth Goudge, Netta Muskett, Catherine Cookson, Rosamunde Pilcher and Lucilla Andrews. The RNA has a membership approaching 1000, composed of authors and publishing professionals. It promotes and celebrates excellence in romantic fiction across all sub-genres. Ōpōtiki
Ōpōtiki (; from ''Ōpōtiki-Mai-Tawhiti'') is a small town in the eastern Bay of Plenty in the North Island of New Zealand. It houses the headquarters of the Ōpōtiki District Council and comes under the Bay of Plenty Regional Council. Geography The town of Ōpōtiki is situated exactly on latitude 38° South. The climate is temperate. Summer temperatures reach the mid-20s (Celsius, mid-70s Fahrenheit) on the coast and encourage a continuation of the beach culture of the Bay of Plenty. Winter days are often cloudless, the daytime temperature never drops below freezing but there may be a mild frost at night.
