Nora (1944 Film)
''Nora'' is a 1944 German drama film directed by Harald Braun and starring Luise Ullrich, Viktor Staal and Franziska Kinz. The film is an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's play ''A Doll's House''. The film uses Ibsen's alternate ending where the unhappy couple are reconciled at the end.Hull p. 252 Location shooting took place around Park Glienicke in Berlin and along the North Sea coast, particularly around Husum. The sets were designed by art directors Emil Hasler and Walter Kutz. Albert Peter Adam Florath (7 December 1888, Bielefeld – 11 March 1957, Gaildorf) was a German stage and film actor. Early life and education Born to Joseph Florath, a locksmith, and his wife Matilda, née Burkart, he attended school in Brakel and the Realgymnasium in Paderborn. He was bailiff candidate in Delbrück, where he was active in the welfare, church and school department and the police administration. Acting career Florath gained first stage experience in amateur dramatic groups of local clubs in Delbrück. In 1908, Florath gave up his career in office and went to Munich-Schwabing, to devote himself entirely to acting. He debuted in 1908 as a stage actor at the court theater in Munich. Gustav Diessl (30 December 1899 – 20 March 1948) was an Austrian artist, and film and stage actor. Biography Diessl was born Gustav Karl Balthasar Diessl in Vienna. In 1916, he was an extra on different stages in Vienna but was soon recruited into the army for World War I. During his military service, he was held prisoner for a year. After the war, Diessl started training as a stage designer but left to pursue a professional career in acting. Meanwhile, he played for a touring company and in 1921 had his first fixed engagement at the Neue Wiener Bühne. That same year he made his film debut, appearing in ''Im Banne der Kralle'', which was produced in Austria and directed by Carl Froelich (G. W. Pabst, who would later direct Diessl in ''Vastfronten 1918'', made his only appearance as a screen actor in this film).
