Juniata County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 23,509. Its county seat is Mifflintown. The county was created on March 2, 1831, from part of Mifflin County and named for the Juniata River. Mountains in Juniata County include Tuscarora Mountain and Shade Mountain. Agricultural land and forested land make up most of the county's area. Major rivers and creeks in the county include the Susquehanna River, the Juniata River, Tuscarora Creek, and West Branch Mahantango Creek. It borders seven other counties. The county lies over 16 different rock formations (which are from the Ordovician, Silurian, and Devonian) and 51 different soils. Juniata County has a relatively low population density. The most population-dense parts of the county are the boroughs of Mifflintown and Mifflin. Beale Township is a township in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 773 at the 2020 census, a decline from the figure of 830 tabulated in 2010. History Beale Township is the location of the Book site, an archaeological site dating from the Woodland period. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.Beckerman, Ira. Pennsylvania Route 35 (PA 35) is a state highway located in central Pennsylvania. The southern terminus of the route is at U.S. Route 522 (US 522) near Shade Gap. The northern terminus is at US 11/US 15 in Selinsgrove. Route description PA 35 begins at an intersection with US 522 near the borough of Shade Gap in Dublin Township, Huntingdon County, heading northeast on a two-lane undivided road. Soon after beginning, the route intersects PA 641 as it runs through rural residential areas. From here, the road heads into a mix of farmland and woodland with some homes, crossing into Tell Township. Here, PA 35 becomes Shade Valley Road and runs through more agricultural areas in a valley. The route continues through Richvale and runs through more farmland along with occasional woods and residences.
