Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, a first-class cricket ground in Maitland Place, Colombo, is the home ground of the Nondescripts Cricket Club. Location The ground is in the Cinnamon Gardens district of Colombo, next to the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground and across Maitland Place from the Colombo Cricket Club Ground. History Nondescripts Cricket Club, founded in 1888, moved to the ground in 1910 after reclaiming it from swampland. It first hosted first-class cricket in 1926, and has been in constant use as a first-class venue since 1989. Three One Day International matches were played there in 1986–87, and three Women's One Day Internationals in 2010–11. A new pavilion was opened in 2007. As of early December 2021, 223 first-class matches and 155 List A matches had been played at the ground. Nondescripts Cricket Club (also known by its initials NCC) is a first-class cricket team based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The team plays at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. Cinnamon Gardens ( si, කුරුඳු වත්ත ''Kurundu Vaththa'', ta, கறுவாத் தோட்டம்) is an affluent neighbourhood in Colombo, Sri Lanka located 3 kilometers south-east from Colombo's centre. A One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of overs, currently 50, with the game lasting up to 9 hours. Women's One Day International Cricket
Women's One Day International (WODI) is the limited overs form of women's cricket. Matches are scheduled for 50 overs, equivalent to the men's game. The first women's ODIs were played in 1973, as part of the first Women's World Cup which was held in England. The first ODI saw the hosts beat an International XI. The 1,000th women's ODI took place between South Africa and New Zealand on 13 October 2016. WODI status is determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and was restricted to full members of the ICC. In May 2022, the ICC awarded WODI status to five more teams. In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. Lahiru Udara (born 27 November 1993) is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Nondescripts Cricket Club in the 2013–14 Premier Trophy on 17 January 2014. Nimesh Perera
Modara Muthugalage Don Nimesh Randika Gayan Perera (born September 5, 1977, in Colombo) is a Sri Lankan first-class cricketer. A genuine all-rounder, Perera is an aggressive left-handed middle to lower order batsman and a leg spin bowler. After making his first-class debut in 1995/96, Perera captained the Sri Lankan Under-19 side in a three-Test series against India the following season. He toured England with the Sri Lankan A team in 1999. The tour began against an ECB XI, and he made 110 not out and took 4/25.
