Nomad Nur-Sultan
Nomad Hockey Club ( kk, Nomad Hokkej Kluby), commonly referred to as Nomad Astana, is a farm team of the Barys Astana of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Founded in 2007 as Barys Astana–2, the team changed its name to Nomad Astana in 2013. Formerly a member of the Supreme Hockey League, Nomad currently play in the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship. History The team formed in 2007 to play in the Pervaya Liga. They finished in 14th place in the Ural–Western Siberia Zone. Next season, they joined the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship. Squaded by junior players, they finished in last place in their first season of play. Next season, they qualified for the playoffs for the first time. Strengthened by players from the Barys Astana, they reached finals. However they lost to Beibarys Atyrau in four games in series. Astana, previously known as Akmolinsk, Tselinograd, Akmola, and most recently Nur-Sultan, is the capital city of Kazakhstan. Humo Hockey Club, also known as Humo Tashkent, are a professional ice hockey team based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Originally a member of the Uzbekistan Ice Hockey League, Humo joined the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship for the 2022–23 Season. Humo play their games at the Humo Ice Dome; both the team and arena derive their name from the mythical Huma bird, a symbol of happiness and freedom. IIHF Continental Cup
The Continental Cup is a second-level ice hockey tournament for European clubs (behind Champions Hockey League), begun in 1997 after the discontinuing of the European Cup. It was intended for teams from countries without representatives in the European Hockey League, with participating teams chosen by the countries' respective ice hockey associations. Hans Dobida served as chairman of the Continental Cup until 2018. Format The competition began in 1997–98 with 42 clubs from 26 countries, which expanded to 48 teams for the next two years.
