Noisebox Records
Noisebox Records was a UK record label based in Norwich in the early and mid-1990s run by Pete Morgan. The label released over 50 albums and singles from acts such as The Lemongrowers, Navigator, Waddle, Farrah, The Joeys, Steerpike, Magoo, UXB and Crest, as well as organising gigs locally and nationally. The label went out of existence in 1998. Pete Morgan still works within the industry, he is director of 'Noisebox Digital Media' and part owner of 'Burning Shed', an online record label. A record label, or record company, is a brand or trademark of music recordings and music videos, or the company that owns it. Sometimes, a record label is also a publishing company that manages such brands and trademarks, coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, marketing, promotion, and enforcement of copyright for sound recordings and music videos, while also conducting talent scouting and development of new artists, and maintaining contracts with recording artists and their managers. The term "record label", derives from the circular label in the center of a vinyl record which prominently displays the manufacturer's name, along with other information. Farrah (band)
Farrah are a British indie rock band. They have released four studio albums since 2001 and toured internationally since their formation. History After releasing their debut single "Terry" on the indie Noisebox Records label in the UK they were signed to The Police manager Miles Copeland III's Ark 21 Records for the release of their debut album, ''Moustache''. The album was released in the UK, US, Europe and Japan and saw the band tour the world extensively to support it. When Ark21 shut down operation in the UK, their second album '' Me Too'', was released on various independent labels throughout the world. Farrah have maintained their independent status ever since. Recording at their own South London recording studio, producing their own videos and managing their online presence. Biography The band's influences include Guided by Voices, Stereolab, Pavement, the Flaming Lips and John Peel, and spent their early years playing local venues in the Norwich area. During their time with Chemikal Underground, Magoo played at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York and the Glastonbury Festival, as well as smaller events around the UK.
