Noise Unit
Noise Unit is a Canadian industrial band, founded by Bill Leeb of Front Line Assembly as a side project. The band has seen several changes in line-up, with Bill Leeb being the only permanent member. History Noise Unit's first album, ''Grinding into Emptiness'', arose from the collaboration between Leeb and Marc Verhaeghen of Belgian industrial band Klinik. It was released in 1989 through Wax Trax! and Antler-Subway. The 1990 album ''Response Frequency'' included Rhys Fulber. After the completion of the album, Verhaeghen left Noise Unit for several years. Fulber remained with the band for the next three releases, including the contemporary techno album ''Decoder'' in 1995. Verhaeghen resumed his collaboration with ''Noise Unit'' for the 1996 album ''Drill'', which also featured members of German industrial band Haujobb. Front Line Assembly
Front Line Assembly (FLA) is a Canadian electro-industrial band formed by Bill Leeb in 1986 after leaving Skinny Puppy. FLA has developed its own sound incorporating elements of electronic body music and electro-industrial. The band's membership has rotated through the years, including Michael Balch, Rhys Fulber, and Chris Peterson, all of whom are associated with several other acts. Since their inception, the group have produced over a dozen studio albums and EPs, several of which have charted on '' Billboards Top Dance/Electronic Album chart. The albums '' Tactical Neural Implant'' and '' Hard Wired'' are two of the group's most successful records, the former being considered a classic among industrial music fans. Jeremy Inkel
Jeremy Michel Neville Inkel (8 February 1983 – 11 January 2018) was a Canadian electronic musician based in Vancouver. He was best known as a keyboard player and programmer for Left Spine Down and electro-industrial band Front Line Assembly as well as producing tracks for various well known musicians worldwide. He began his work with Left spine Down in 2003 when he replaced original member Frank Valoczy. He was invited into Front Line Assembly in 2005 and made his first contributions to their 2006 album ''Artificial Soldier''. He also made contributions to Front Line Assembly side-projects Noise Unit and Delerium. Inkel died from complications with asthma at the age of 34 on January 11, 2018. Chris Peterson (born May 14, 1968) is a Canadian producer and electronic musician from Vancouver. Throughout his career, he has worked with numerous bands in the Canadian industrial and electronic music scene of which Front Line Assembly and Delerium are the most notable. Rhys Fulber
Nowell Rhys Fulber is a Canadian electronic musician and producer. He is a member of Front Line Assembly and Delerium, along with Bill Leeb. He also records under his own name and under the name Conjure One. Biography Rhys Fulber was born in Vancouver, Canada on October 10, 1970. His father, a musician, was born in Germany and his mother was from Great Britain. His father introduced him to the music of Led Zeppelin and Kraftwerk (and took him along to see Kraftwerk live in 1975). Fulber became interested in music and started drumming on his father's instruments at a very early age. His father later built and ran a recording studio, catering toward the local punk rock scene. As a youth, Fulber spent a lot of time at the studio. In 1984 he started becoming more interested in electronic music and acquired his first synthesizer. Wilhelm Anton "Bill" Leeb (born 21 September 1966, in Vienna, Austria) is an Austrian-Canadian electronic musician and record producer. He is best known for being a founding member of the industrial music group Front Line Assembly. Additionally, Leeb is known for his work with groups such as Noise Unit, Delerium, Intermix, and Skinny Puppy, among others. Career Leeb began his musical career with industrial band Skinny Puppy in 1985 under the pseudonym Wilhelm Schroeder, contributing bass synth and occasional backing vocals to a few of their recordings and concerts. Synæsthesia was a Canadian ambient band formed by industrial musicians Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber as a side project of their main band Front Line Assembly. ''Keyboard'' magazine writes: "Synæsthesia explores dark tribal ambient sounds, composers have a flair for cinematic electronica, and favor epic pieces that unfold slowly." History Leeb and Fulber formed Synæsthesia in the 1990s and began recording together. Due to contractual entanglements they were at first not able to admit they were behind the music. Skinny Puppy
Skinny Puppy is a Canadian industrial music group formed in Vancouver in 1982. The group is among the founders of the industrial rock and electro-industrial genres. Initially envisioned as an experimental side-project by cEvin Key (Kevin Crompton) while he was in the new wave band Images in Vogue, Skinny Puppy evolved into a full-time project with the addition of vocalist Nivek Ogre (Kevin Ogilvie). Over the course of 13 studio albums and many live tours, Key and Ogre have been the only constant members. ''Orbiting Cathedrals'' is the only album by ''Pro>Tech'', a side project of Canadian industrial musician Bill Leeb with the help of industrial musician Chris Peterson. The project was launched in 1997 in the wake of the release of the album '' LAour of the Weak'' from industrial band Front Line Assembly, which at the time consisted of Leeb and Peterson. ''Orbiting Cathedrals'' is supposed to be a musical twin of '' LAour of the Weak''. The album was released through German label Dossier and re-released in 2000 by Hypnotic. Tracks from ''Orbiting Cathedrals'' have also appeared on '' Cryogenic Studios'' and '' Cryogenic Studio, Vol. 2'', compilation albums with songs from Front Line Assembly and related projects. Left Spine Down
Left Spine Down (LSD) is a Canadian band based in Vancouver, British Columbia, that plays what they call "cyberpunk": a mixture of electronica, metal, punk, and drum & bass. History The group formed in Vancouver in 2001 with Matt Girvan, Frank Valoczy and Kaine Delay, with Jeremy Inkel replacing Valoczy in 2003 (Jared Slingerland joined the following year).
