Noel Lane (Galway Hurler)
Noel Lane (born 11 December 1954) is an Irish former hurler who played as a full-forward at senior level for the Galway county team. Born in Ballyglass, County Galway, Lane first played competitive hurling whilst at school in Our Lady's College, Gort. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-two when he made his senior debut with Galway in the 1977–78 National Hurling League. Lane went on to play a key role for Galway for more than a decade, and won three All-Ireland medals and two National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on five occasions. As a member of the Connacht inter-provincial team at various times, Lane won five Railway Cup medals. At club level he played with Ballinderreen. Throughout his career Lane made 22 championship appearances for Galway. His retirement came following the conclusion of the 1990 championship. Ballyglass
Ballyglass () is a small village in central County Mayo in Ireland. It is situated about 10 miles from Castlebar, and closer to Claremorris and Ballinrobe. Infrastructure Ballyglass consists of one shop, two pubs, a primary school, a playschool, a community centre, a tennis court, a soccer pitch with a flood-lit training pitch, a soccer team a post office and a Garda barracks. There is also a part-time dispensary. The Old Ground, now a public house, was originally built as a warehouse. A court house was situated where Murphy's guest house is today. The Garda Barracks was originally built to house a hotel to support a planned train station. However, plans changed and no train station exists in Ballyglass today. GAA All Stars Awards
The Gaelic Athletic Association-Gaelic Players' Association All Stars Awards (often known simply as the All Stars) are awarded annually to the best player in each of the 15 playing positions in Gaelic football and hurling. Additionally, one player in each code is selected as Player of the Year. The awards were instituted in 1971. Since 2011 they have been presented jointly by the Gaelic Athletic Association and the representative body for inter-county players, the Gaelic Players Association. Johnny Flaherty
Johnny Flaherty (born 1949 in Kinnitty, County Offaly) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Kinnitty and with the Offaly senior inter-county team in the 1970s and 1980s. Playing career Club Flaherty played his club hurling with his local club Kinnitty and enjoyed much success. His skill at the game became apparent from as early as 1957 when he won his first juvenile hurling medal with the club. Flaherty made his senior debut for the club at the age of seventeen, as well as playing at minor and under-21 levels. In 1966 he won a county junior title with the club before going on to win senior county titles in 1967, 1978, 1979, 1983, 1984 and 1985. Damien Martin
Damien Martin (born 2 October 1946) is an Irish former hurler who played as a goalkeeper for the Offaly senior hurling team. Born in Banagher, County Offaly, Martin first arrived on the inter-county scene when he first linked up with the Offaly minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. Martin made his senior debut during the 1964–65 National League and later became a regular member of the team. During a career that spanned three decades he won one All-Ireland medal and three Leinster medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team at various times, Martin won three Railway Cup medals. At club level he is a three-time Leinster medallist with St Rynagh's. Croke Park
Croke Park ( ga, Páirc an Chrócaigh, ) is a Gaelic games stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Named after Archbishop Thomas Croke, it is referred to as Croker by GAA fans and locals. It serves as both the principal national stadium of Ireland and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Conor Hayes (born 11 May 1958) is an Irish former hurler who played as a full-back at senior level for the Galway county team. Born in Kiltormer, County Galway, Hayes first played competitive hurling in his youth. He made his first impression on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty he joined the Galway under-21 team. Éamonn Cregan
Éamonn Cregan (born 21 May 1945) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer, hurler and manager. He is best remembered for his success with Limerick, as a player in the 1970s and then as manager of various club and inter-county teams in the 1980s and 1990s. Cregan was inducted into the GAA Hall of Fame in 2013. Playing career Club Cregan played his club hurling and football with his local club in Claughaun and enjoyed much success. He won his first senior county title with the club in 1968 and added a second three years later in 1971. Cregan won a third and final county medal in 1986.
