Nobody Lives Forever (film)
''Nobody Lives Forever'' is a 1946 American crime film noir directed by Jean Negulesco and based on the novel ''I Wasn't Born Yesterday'' by W. R. Burnett. It stars John Garfield and Geraldine Fitzgerald and features Walter Brennan, Faye Emerson, George Coulouris and George Tobias. Plot Former conman Nick Blake (John Garfield), a soldier returning to New York City after World War II, looks up his old girlfriend Toni Blackburn (Faye Emerson) to get the money she has been holding for him while he was in the army. Robert Buckner
Robert Buckner (May 28, 1906 – August 18, 1989) was an American film screenwriter, producer and short story writer. Biography Buckner studied at the University of Virginia and the University of Edinburgh. He began his professional writing career at age 20, as London correspondent for the ''New York World''. He wrote a play ''An Affair of the State''; the novels ''Sigrid and Sergeant'' (1959), ''Tiger By the Tail'' (1960) and ''Starfire'' (1960); and the short story "The Man Who Won the War" (1936). James Flavin
James William Flavin Jr. (May 14, 1906 – April 23, 1976) was an American character actor whose career lasted for nearly half a century. Early life The son of a hotel waiter of Canadian-English descent,Flavin's obituary, distributed by United Press International, says that he was born in Portland, Oregon. the Portland, Maine-born Flavin attended the United States Military Academy, where he played football. Career Summer stock companies flocked to Maine each year, and in 1929 Flavin was asked to fill in for an actor. He did well with the part and the company manager offered him $150 per week to accompany the troupe back to New York. Flavin accepted and by the spring of 1930, he resided in a rooming house at 108 W. 87th Street in Manhattan.
