Nobody's Child (2004 Film)
''Nobody's Child'' (simplified Mandarin: 谁来爱我 ) is a 2004 Singaporean film, directed by Lin Wenhui. Story Together with her parents and younger brother, Shuangshuang left Malaysia for Singapore. Danping and her husband rented a food stall. But poor business forced Shuangshuang's father to find a job back in Malaysia, leaving Danping to run the stall with Shuangshuang. Danping never appreciated Shuangshuang's competence. Whenever Shuangshuang made a mistake or she was in a foul mood, she'd take it out on the young girl. Wei, an assistant at a neighbouring coffee stall, would always speak up for Shuangshuang whenever she got abused. He and Shuangshuang became good friends over time. Shuangshuang's father soon stopped remitting money and even had an affair. He asked for a divorce when his lover became pregnant. Joshua Ang
Joshua Ang Ser Kian (; born 1 March 1989) is a former Mediacorp artiste from Singapore who starred alongside Shawn Lee in the film ''I Not Stupid'' and its sequel ''I Not Stupid Too''. Career Ang began acting in 2001 and was one of four child actors who were cast by Jack Neo and his team in the box office hit ''I Not Stupid''. He was cast in ''Homerun'', another successful film. Ang soon rose to stardom and was cast in more films, including '' Nobody's Child''. In 2008, after completing his National Service, Ang signed a contract with Mediacorp as a full-time artiste. Ang also starred in Mediacorp Channel 8's 180 episode drama, '' Your Hand in Mine''. On 15 July 2010, Ang announced that he would not be renewing his contract with Mediacorp to spend more time on his new startup, a recycling business, and with his family. Singaporean Hokkien
Singaporean Hokkien is a local variety of the Hokkien language spoken natively in Singapore. Within Chinese linguistic academic circles, this dialect is known as Singaporean Ban-lam Gu. It bears similarities with the Amoy spoken in Amoy, now better known as Xiamen, as well as Taiwanese Hokkien which is spoken in Taiwan. Hokkien is the Min Nan pronunciation for the province of Fujian, and is generally the term used by the Chinese in Southeast Asia to refer to the 'Banlam' dialect. Singaporean Hokkien generally uses Amoy as its standard, and its accent is predominantly based on a mixture of Quanzhou and Zhangzhou speech, with a greater inclination towards the former. Like many spoken languages in Singapore, Singaporean Hokkien is influenced by other languages or dialects spoken in Singapore.
