Noah Buxton
Noah Buxton (6 November 1876 – 26 May 1967) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire between 1902 and 1911. Buxton was born at Codnor, Derbyshire, the son of William Buxton, a coal miner, and his wife Mary. In 1881 the family was living at Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Buxton made his debut for Derbyshire in the 1902 season. In his opening match against Warwickshire in June, he achieved his best bowling performance of 2 for 14. He played four more matches for Derbyshire during the 1902 season. In 1905, he played for Staffordshire in a Minor Counties match and reappeared for Derbyshire for one match in the 1907 season. Codnor
Codnor is a village and civil parish in the Amber Valley district of Derbyshire, England. Codnor is a former mining village and had a population of 3,766 (including Cross Hill) taken at the 2011 Census. It is approximately 12 miles from Derby and 14 miles from Nottingham. Codnor forms a built up area with nearby Ripley. History Codnor is listed in an entry in the Domesday Book of 1086, the great survey commissioned by William the Conqueror; a mill and church were mentioned, and also the fact that "Warner holds it". Coalmining had a long history locally, and was, at one time, responsible for subsidence damage to some buildings. Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Nottinghamshire. The club's limited overs team is called the Notts Outlaws. The county club was founded in 1841, although teams had played first-class cricket under the Nottinghamshire name since 1835. The county club has always held first-class status. Nottinghamshire have competed in the County Championship since the official start of the competition in 1890 and have played in every top-level elite domestic cricket competition in England. Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1911 represents the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire had been playing for forty years. It was their seventeenth season in the County Championship and, winning two matches, the side ended fourteenth in the Championship table, staying just off the bottom. 1911 season Derbyshire CCC played eighteen games in the County Championship in 1911 and no other matches. The captain for the year was John Chapman in his second season as captain. Samuel Cadman was top scorer with two centuries, although Chapman, who was not out five times ended with a better average. Arnold Warren took 79 wickets. Archibald Slater and John Corbet made their debuts for the side as did Archibald Wickstead and Arthur Wood who only played two seasons. Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1907 represents the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire had been playing for thirty six years. It was their thirteenth season in the County Championship and they finished bottom of the table having won two matches in the season. 1907 season Derbyshire played 22 games in the County Championship, one match against the touring South Africans and one against MCC. They lost all but three of the played matches, which were two wins and a draw, and ended at the bottom of the Championship table. Levi Wright was in his second season as captain and was also top scorer. Samuel Cadman took most wickets with 63.
