No. 82 Wing Training Flight RAAF
No. 82 Wing Training Flight is a Royal Australian Air Force Flight (military unit), flight which was established in January 2020 to provide training for No. 82 Wing RAAF, No. 82 Wing. It is equipped with six Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornets. History and role Until 2015, No. 6 Squadron RAAF, No. 6 Squadron was the operational conversion unit responsible for preparing RAAF aircrew to operate Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft. During that year, the squadron relinquished the training role ahead of being re-equipped with Boeing EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft. RAAF Super Hornet and Growler aircrew subsequently undertook operational conversion training in the United States with United States Navy units. RAAF Base Amberley
RAAF Base Amberley is a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military airbase located southwest of Ipswich, Queensland in Australia and southwest of Brisbane CBD. It is currently home to No. 1 Squadron (operating the F/A-18F Super Hornet), No. 6 Squadron (operating the EA-18G Growler), No. 33 Squadron (operating the Airbus KC-30A), No. 35 Squadron (operating the C-27J Spartan) and No. 36 Squadron (operating the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III). Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet
The Boeing F/A-18E and F/A-18F Super Hornet are twin-engine, carrier-capable, multirole fighter aircraft variants based on the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. The F/A-18E single-seat and F/A-18F tandem-seat variants are larger and more advanced derivatives of the F/A-18C and D Hornet. The Super Hornet has an internal 20 mm M61 rotary cannon and can carry air-to-air missiles and air-to-surface weapons. Additional fuel can be carried in up to five external fuel tanks and the aircraft can be configured as an airborne tanker by adding an external air-to-air refueling system. Boeing EA-18G Growler
The Boeing EA-18G Growler is an American carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft, a specialized version of the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet. The EA-18G replaced the Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowlers in service with the United States Navy. The Growler's electronic warfare capability is primarily provided by Northrop Grumman. The EA-18G began production in 2007 and entered operational service with the US Navy in late 2009. Australia has also purchased twelve EA-18Gs, which entered service with the Royal Australian Air Force in 2017. RAAF Base Tindal is a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military air base and civil aviation airfield located east southeast of the town of Katherine, Northern Territory in Australia.
