No. 3 Squadron IqAF
The 3rd Attack and Reconnaissance Squadron is a squadron of the Iraqi Air Force. Pre-2003 era No. 3 Squadron was first established in October 1934, operating Hawker Audax fighter/army cooperation aircraft from Rasheed Air Base in Baghdad.Pesach Malovany, "Wars of Modern Babylon", University Press of Kentucky, June 2017, / , fn. 2, p.813. The squadron participated in its first combat operations during the 1935-1936 Iraqi Shia revolts, and lost one of its aircraft to machine-gun fire. At the time of the Anglo-Iraqi War, No. 3 Squadron was based in Mosul, but it did not fly any combat sorties during the war. However, in March 1942, Rasheed Air Base was suddenly flooded, and the squadron's remaining aircraft were destroyed. No. 3 Squadron was thus disbanded. 23rd Squadron (Iraq)
The 23rd Squadron of the Iraqi Air Force is an air transport squadron operating the Lockheed C-130 Hercules. Pre-2003 era No. 23 Squadron was established in 1965 at Muthenna Air Base. It was equipped with all of the Iraqi Air Force's Antonov An-12s, formerly operated by No. 3 Squadron. The establishment of the unit had the objective of supporting the quick intervention of loyal ground forces, in the event of a coup attempt. As of 1967, it was equipped with six Antonov An-12BPs and eight Antonov An-2s. One of the An-12s was destroyed on the ground on 5 June 1967, during an Israeli attack on H-3 Air Base. No. 23 Squadron participated in the First and Second Iraqi-Kurdish Wars, using its An-12s in transport roles and also as makeshift bombers, disgorging bombs from their rear loading ramps. SAMA CH2000
The AMD Alarus CH2000 is a two-seat, fixed tricycle gear general aviation airplane, used primarily for flight training, that was designed by Chris Heintz. It is manufactured by Aircraft Manufacturing and Design Co. in Eastman, Georgia. It is a low-wing aircraft, with one door located above each wing, respectively. It can be considered a competitor to similar aircraft used for flight training, such as the Diamond DA20. The Alarus features Garmin avionics and a cabin. Jalawla ( ar, جلولاء, ku, ,Celewla ,گوڵاڵە also known as Jalula) is a town in Diyala Governorate, Iraq. It is located on the Diyala River, north of Sadiyah. The town is populated by Arabs, Kurds and Turkmens. History Early history Jalawla was the center of the Sasanian Šāḏ Qobāḏ Province and the Khurasan Road crossed the town. The Sasanians ultimately lost control over the town after the Battle of Jalula in 637 to Muslim invaders. Modern history Jalawla has been the center town of Jalawla District since its creation with a Republican decree in 1958. Prior to the decree, Jalawla was part of Saadiya District. Before the launch of the Ba'athist Arabization campaigns in North Iraq in the 1960s, the town had a Kurdish majority. Bell 206
The Bell 206 is a family of two-bladed, single- and twin-engined helicopters, manufactured by Bell Helicopter at its Mirabel, Quebec, plant. Originally developed as the Bell YOH-4 for the United States Army's Light Observation Helicopter program, it was not selected by the Army. Bell redesigned the airframe and successfully marketed the aircraft commercially as the five-place Bell 206A JetRanger. The new design was eventually selected by the Army as the OH-58 Kiowa. Bell also developed a seven-place LongRanger, which was later offered with a twin-engined option as the TwinRanger, while Tridair Helicopters offers a similar conversion of the LongRanger called the Gemini ST. The Dassault Falcon 20 is a French business jet developed and manufactured by Dassault Aviation. The first business jet developed by the firm, it became the first of a family of business jets to be produced under the same name; of these, both the smaller Falcon 10 and the larger trijet Falcon 50 were direct derivatives of the Falcon 20. The Lockheed JetStar (company designations L-329 and L-1329; designated C-140 in US military service) is a business jet produced from the early 1960s to the 1970s. The JetStar was the first dedicated business jet to enter service, as well as the only such airplane built by Lockheed. It was also one of the largest aircraft in the class for many years, seating ten plus two crew. It is distinguishable from other small jets by its four engines, mounted on the rear of the fuselage, and the "slipper"-style fuel tanks fixed to the wings. The Tupolev Tu-124 (NATO reporting name: Cookpot) was a 56-passenger short-range twinjet airliner built in the Soviet Union. It was the first Soviet airliner powered by turbofan engines. Design and development Developed from the medium-range Tupolev Tu-104, the Tu-124 was meant to meet Aeroflot's requirement for a regional airliner to replace the Ilyushin Il-14 on domestic routes. Resembling a 75% scaled-down Tu-104, the two were hard to tell apart at a distance but it was not a complete copy of the Tu-104. The Tu-124 had a number of refinements, including double-slotted flaps, a large centre-section airbrake and automatic spoilers. Unlike the Tu-104, the wing trailing edge inboard of the undercarriage was unswept.
