Nguni Languages
The Nguni languages are a group of closely related Bantu languages spoken in southern Africa by the Nguni peoples. Nguni languages include Xhosa, Zulu, Ndebele (sometimes referred to as "Northern Ndebele"), and Swazi. The appellation "Nguni" derives from the Nguni cattle type. ''Ngoni'' (see below) is an older, or a shifted, variant. It is sometimes argued that the use of ''Nguni'' as a generic label suggests a historical monolithic unity of the people in question, where in fact the situation may have been more complex. The linguistic use of the label (referring to a subgrouping of Bantu) is relatively stable. West Nkosi
West Nkosi (born Mkhubatseli West Nkosi, 1940 – 8 October 1998) was a South African music producer, saxophonist and songwriter. Nkosi was born in Nelspruit, South Africa. He was an original member of the Makgona Tsohle Band which backed Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens. He was also a producer in the Mavuthela Music subsidiary of Gallo Record Company where he produced thousands of recordings by several famous South African artists, including the first 22 records for Ladysmith Black Mambazo (he managed the group until their international discovery in 1987). Nkosi also produced all the international releases for Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens, and the Makgona Tsohle Band between 1986 and 1991, when he left both the Mahlathini and the Queens and Makgona Tsohle to concentrate solely on producing. "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika" (, ) is a Christian hymn originally composed in 1897 by Enoch Sontonga, a Xhosa people, Xhosa clergyman at a Methodism, Methodist mission school near Johannesburg. The song became a pan-African liberation song and versions of it were later adopted as the national anthems of five countries in Africa including Zambia, Tanzania, Namibia and Zimbabwe after independence, and South Africa after the end of apartheid. The song's melody is still used as the Mungu ibariki Afrika, national anthem of Tanzania and the Stand and Sing of Zambia, Proud and Free, national anthem of Zambia (Zimbabwe and Namibia have since changed to new anthems with original melody composition). Nkosi Ntsikayezwe Twenty-man Sigcau (1947–1996) was a traditional leader of Lwandlolubomvu Traditional Council. He was the youngest son of King Botha Sigcau and brother to Princess Stella Sigcau, and his elder brother King Mpondombini Sigcau. Nkosikhona Nofuma (born 29 April 1988) is a South African professional rugby union player for the in the Currie Cup and in the Rugby Challenge. He can play as a flanker, number eight or lock. DJ Themba, also known as Euphonik (born 6 December 1983), is a South African DJ, music producer, and radio presenter. He is known mostly for playing house music under the alias Euphonik.
