Nitzan Alon
Major General Nitzan Alon ( he, ניצן אלון; born 1964) is a general in the Israel Defense Forces. In December 2011, he was named GOC Central Command and became Head of Central Command in early 2012. He became a commissioned officer after completing the 12-week-long school IDF Officer Candidate School. Alon went on further and graduated from the École de l'infanterie, a French military academy for further training for commissioned military officers. He then attended the École Militaire Interarmes or EMIA, a military school of the French Army intended to form and train military staff including Senior officers who have risen from the ranks. Between 1984 and 2000, Alon was assigned to various positions in the IDF elite General Staff Special Forces Sayeret Matkal, being appointed its commander in 2001, serving in that position until 2004. Mateh Binyamin Regional Council ( he, מועצה אזורית מטה בנימין, ''Mo'atza Azorit Mateh Binyamin,'' Lit. Council for the Region of the Tribe of Benjamin) is a regional council governing 46 Israeli settlements and outposts in the West Bank. The council's jurisdiction is from the Jordan valley in the east to the Samarian foothills in the west, and from the Shiloh river in the north to the Jerusalem Mountains in the south. The seat of the council is Psagot. The council is named for the ancient Israelite tribe of Benjamin, whose territory roughly corresponds to that of the council. The region in which the Binyamin settlements are located is referred to as the Binyamin Region. The international community considers Israeli settlements to be illegal, but the state of Israel disputes this, and this applies to all communities under the administration of Mateh Binyamin.
