Nitza Quiñones Alejandro
Nitza Ileana Quiñones Alejandro (born January 1951) is a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Quiñones Alejandro is the first lesbian Latina to be appointed to serve as a federal judge. Early life and career Quiñones was born in Puerto Rico. She grew up in a military family. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree, ''cum laude'', in 1972 from the University of Puerto Rico, having attended Central Michigan University as an exchange student for part of her undergraduate education. She received her Juris Doctor in 1975 from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. She moved from Puerto Rico to Philadelphia after graduating law school. Nitza Ben-Dov
Nitza Ben-Dov ( he, ניצה בן-דב, née Fruchtman, born 10 March 1950) is Professor of Hebrew and Comparative literature, Comparative Literature at the University of Haifa. Winner of the 2021 Israel Prize Biography Nitza Ben-Dov was born in Tel Aviv to parents who were Holocaust survivors. Her father, Dov (Bernard) Fruchtman, was a teacher of literature and wrote a series of research studies on the oeuvre of S.Y. Agnon. Ben-Dov completed her secondary studies at the New High School (Tichon Hadash) in Tel Aviv in 1968. She served in the Israel Defense Forces (1968–1970) in the Nahal Brigade, at Nahal Golan. Ben-Dov studied Hebrew Literature and Biblical Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem from 1970 to 1973 and received a teaching certificate in 1974. Nitza Margarita Cintrón
Nitza Margarita Cintrón (born 1950) is a Puerto Rican scientist and Chief of Space Medicine and Health Care Systems Office at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Early years Cintrón was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the capital city of the island. As a child, she lived throughout Europe, as her father was a member of the U.S. Army. When her father retired from the armed forces, they returned to Puerto Rico and settled down in Santurce, a barrio of San Juan. There she attended elementary and high school, where she excelled in science and mathematics. Nitza Metzger-Szmuk (Hebrew: ניצה מֶצְגֶר-סְמוּק) is an Israeli architect, and Emet Prize laureate in architecture for her work on documentation and preservation of Tel Aviv's White City. She also received the Rokach Prize in 2001. Early life and education Born in 1945 in Tel Aviv, Israel, she completed her architecture studies at the University of Florence, Italy, in 1978. After graduating she worked at an architectural firm in Florence doing conservation of historic buildings. Work in architecture and preservation Upon her return to Israel in 1989, Metzger-Szmuk was employed by the Tel Aviv Foundation for the development of an architectural survey of the city's International Style buildings. Nitza Saul
Nitza Saul ( he, ניצה שאול; born June 25, 1950, sometimes credited as Nitza Shaul) is an Israeli actress known for her appearances on British television during the 1980s. In the 1970s Saul starred in several Israeli films, including ''Giv'at Halfon Eina Ona'' (Halfon Hill does not Answer), '' Hashoter Azulai'' (Officer Azulai) and ''Hagiga B'Snuker'' (Party at the Snooker Hall). Saul became the first Israeli woman to pose for ''Playboy'' magazine in the May 1979 issue. Nitza Tufiño
Nitza Tufiño was born in Mexico City in 1949 and is a visual artist. Background She grew up in Puerto Rico. In her youth, she learned graphic arts whiled working with her father, the painter Rafael Tufiño. During her time at Academia de San Carlos, Tufiño met and was inspired by David Alfaro Siqueiros. After earning a B.F.A. from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, she moved to New York City. Artwork In 1969, together with a group of artists, educators and activists, Tufiño founded El Museo del Barrio. The museum's façade was the site of her first public mural. Tufiño's ceramic murals have been commissioned for a number of public locations including the 103rd Street and Lexington Avenue subway station, the Third Street Music School, and LaGuardia Community College. Nitza Villapol
Nitza Villapol Andiarena (November 20, 1923 – September 20, 1998) was a chef, teacher, cookbook writer, and television host in Cuba. She has been called, by some, the "Cuban Julia Child" for her ability to communicate culinary arts to a popular audience. Born in New York to Cuban immigrants, Villapol lived there until the age of 11, after the collapse of the Machado regime. It is unclear whether she studied nutrition at the University of London during the early 1940s, or if she attended Harvard and MIT in the 1950s, or whether she completed her doctorate degree in Havana in 1955. By the 1950s, Villapol was famous in Cuba for her standard cookbooks on Cuban cuisine ''Cocina al minuto'' (1950).
