Nistertal-Bad Marienberg Station
Nistertal-Bad Marienberg station (formerly: ''Erbach'') is, along with ''Büdingen (Westerw) station'', one of two rail stations in the municipality of Nistertal in the Westerwald and the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The station is located at line-kilometre 42.4 on the Limburg (Lahn)–Altenkirchen (Westerw)–Au (Sieg) railway (also known as the ''Oberwesterwaldbahn'' or Upper Westerwald Railway). From 1911 to 1971, the Erbach–Fehl-Ritzhausen railway branched off the Upper Westerwald Railway here. Name The station was originally called ''Erbach (Westerw)'', since it was in the Nistertal district of Erbach. From 1911 to 1971, Marienberg-Langenbach station was located a few kilometres southwest of the centre of the town of Marienberg. With the decommissioning of the Erbach–Fehl-Ritzhausen railway, Erbach station became the closest station to Bad Marienberg and so it was renamed ''Nistertal/Bad Marienberg'' to reflect the fact that it now serves both municipalitie ... Nistertal is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a community belonging to a '' Verbandsgemeinde'' – in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography Location The community lies in the Westerwald between Limburg and Siegen. Nistertal belongs to the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' of Bad Marienberg, a kind of collective municipality. Westerburg Station
Westerburg station is a junction station on the currently closed Herborn–Montabaur railway (also called in German the ''Westerwaldquerbahn'', Cross Westerwald Railway) and the still operated Limburg–Altenkirchen railway (also called the ''Oberwesterwaldbahn'', Upper Westerwald Railway). It is in Westerburg in Westerwaldkreis, in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. History The station was opened together with the corresponding section of the Upper Westerwald Railway on 1 October 1886. The entrance building of the station was not completed until 1887. The Cross Westerwald Railway went into operation from Westerburg to Herborn on 16 July 1907 and was extended to Montabaur on 1 June 1910. Staffel Station
Staffel station (also called ''Limburg-Staffel'') is a heritage-listed station in the Limburg district of Staffel in the German state of Hesse. The Limburg-Staffel–Siershahn railway branches off the Limburg–Altenkirchen railway at the station. Station building The station building was built in 1870 during the construction of the Limburg–Westerburg section of the Limburg–Altenkirchen railway (also called the Upper Westerwald Railway). The architect of the two-storey plaster building was probably Heinrich Velde. The neo-classical building is east of the tracks and originally had five parallel portals, but it was subsequently extended to the south. On the side facing the town it has a gable dormer. To the north there is a low, plastered goods shed supported by timber trusses. Betzdorf (Sieg) Station
Betzdorf (Sieg) station is in the town of Betzdorf, Germany, Betzdorf in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is on the Sieg Railway (''Siegstrecke'') and is the starting point of the Betzdorf–Haiger railway to Haiger station, Haiger/Dillenburg station, Dillenburg and the to Daaden. History The construction of the station began with the construction of the Deutz–Gießen railway, Köln-Deutz–Gießen railway and the Sieg Railway, branch line from Betzdorf to Siegen on 10 January 1861. As a result of the construction of the two lines, Betzdorf became a railway junction and railway town. It had a marshalling yard to serve the surrounding iron ore mines and it grew rapidly. Its importance as a railway junction meant that the town and station suffered severe air raids during the Second World War, resulting in two thirds of the town being destroyed by bombing. The Alstom Coradia LINT is an articulated railcar manufactured by Alstom since 1999, offered in diesel and hydrogen fuel models. The acronym ''LINT'' is short for the German ''"leichter innovativer Nahverkehrstriebwagen"'' (light innovative local transport rail vehicle). Stadler GTW
The Stadler GTW is an articulated railcar for local transport made by Stadler Rail of Switzerland. GTW stands for Gelenktriebwagen (articulated railcar). History The Biel–Täuffelen–Ins-Bahn near Bern, Switzerland was looking for a lighter train model to replace its aging fleet, so that a low floor system does not require heavy installations on the roof. Based on that requirement Stadler came up with a concept of placing most of the equipment in a central unit between the seating cars. While the BTI-Bahn tracks are meter gauge, Stadler presented the first prototype in 1995 set on standard gauge rails, and the Mittelthurgau-Bahn tested three prototypes on its standard gauge network during 1996. The rolling stock for Mittelthurgau was later expanded to 10 GTW 2/6 (built 1998–1999) that are now part of the THURBO fleet (the three prototypes were sold to Italy). Vectus Verkehrsgesellschaft
Vectus Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH ("Vectus Transportation Company", from Latin ''vectus'': "carried") was a German transport company based in Limburg an der Lahn. In 2004, it took over the operation of a regional rail network located in the Lahn valley, the Westerwald and the Taunus, which is called the Westerwald-Taunus network. Au (Sieg) station is a railway junction in the town of Au in the municipality of Windeck, which is in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It lies on the Sieg Railway to Siegen, where the Engers–Au railway branches off to Altenkirchen, where it connects with the Upper Westerwald Railway (''Oberwesterwaldbahn'').
