Nishinomiya Storks
The Nishinomiya Storks (西宮ストークス) are a professional basketball team based in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan that competes in the Japanese B.League . History The club was formed in 2011 as the Hyogo Storks (兵庫ストークス) and entered the second division of the Japan Basketball League (JBL2) in the 2011-12 season, finishing with a record of 17 wins and 10 losses. The club was JBL2 league champions in the 2012-13 season with a record of 27 wins and 5 losses, which was the final season of the league before it was reformed as the National Basketball Development League. The club’s success in the 2012-13 season earned it promotion to the first division of the JBL, which was reformed as the NBL for the 2013-2014 season. On 16 July 2015 the Storks announced an agreement with the City of Nishinomiya that will see the team based in the city and the name changed to the Nishinomiya Storks. Billy Knight (basketball, Born 1979)
William Price Knight (January 20, 1979 – July 8, 2018) was an American professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. His last professional stops were in Japan with Hamamatsu, Osaka, Hyogo and Yamagata. Early life He attended high school at Westchester High in Los Angeles. As a sophomore, he was a reserve at center when Knight's father decided that his son's chances for an athletic scholarship to college rested on his jump-shooting skills. Knight was already tall, so his father set up dummies in their backyard court that he would be forced to shoot over. As a senior, he had developed into one of the top jump shooters nationally and committed to play college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. Herbert Hill (born October 1, 1984) is an American professional basketball player for Nishinomiya Storks of the B.League. Hill attended Providence College. He stands . In 2007, Hill became the third Friar to lead the Big East Conference in scoring, following Eric Murdock and Ryan Gomes. Hill was drafted in the second round, 55th overall, by the Utah Jazz in the 2007 NBA draft, and subsequently traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. Isaac Butts IV (born May 28, 1989) is an American professional basketball player and podcast host who currently plays for Koshigaya Alphas of the Japanese B-League. Draelon Burns (born October 7, 1985) is an American professional basketball player for Nishinomiya Storks in Japan. Standing at 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m), he primarily plays as point guard or shooting guard.
