Nirupama Rajapaksa
Nirupama Deepika Rajapaksa (born 13 April 1962) is a Sri Lankan politician, a former member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and a former deputy minister. Biography She herself, a Sinhalese Buddhist is married to an ethnic Tamil Hindu, Thirukkumaran Nadesan . Rajapaksa is the niece of former Sri Lankan President and later Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Her late father, George and them were first cousins (her late paternal grandfather, D. M. Rajapaksa and their late father, D. A. Rajapaksa were brothers). Career She served as a deputy minister of water supply and drainage during the presidency of Mahinda Rajapaksa between 2010 and 2015. Pandora Papers controversy Her name was mentioned in the Pandora Papers which were released in October 2021. Hambantota Electoral District
Hambantota electoral district is one of the 22 multi-member electoral districts of Sri Lanka created by the 1978 Constitution of Sri Lanka. The district is conterminous with the administrative district of Hambantota in the Southern province. The Rajapaksa family ( si, රාජපක්ෂ, translit=Rājapakṣa) is a Sri Lankan family that is prominent in politics. It was one of Sri Lanka's most powerful families during Mahinda Rajapaksa's presidency, when many members of the family occupied senior positions in the Sri Lankan state. As their political power grew, there were reports suggesting that the country was heading towards autocracy under their rule.
