''Nirbashito'' ( exiled) (2014) is a Bengali-language film directed by Churni Ganguly. The music of the film was composed by Raja Narayan Deb. The film was India's Oscar nomination in the category "Best foreign film" in 2015. The film deals with the subject of banishment (Taslima Nasreen's exile). Plot The protagonist of the film is a female writer who has been banished from her own country for writing against religious fundamentalism. Churni Ganguly
Churni Ganguly (née Banerjee) is a Bengali actress and director. After spending her childhood in Kurseong, she came to Kolkata and got admitted at the Jadavpur University. While studying at Jadavpur University, she joined a theatre group as an actress. Then she moved to Mumbai and acted in a few television serials. Later, she came back to Kolkata and started acting in Bengali films. Ganguly received the Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards in 2005 in the best actress category for the movie ''Waarish'', in which she played a single-mother's role. Taslima Nasreen
Taslima Nasrin (born 25 August 1962) is a Bangladeshi-Swedish writer, physician, feminist, secular humanist, and activist. She is known for her writing on women's oppression and criticism of religion. Some of her books are banned in Bangladesh. She has also been blacklisted and banished from the Bengal region (both from Bangladesh and West Bengal state of India). She gained global attention by the beginning of 1990s owing to her essays and novels with feminist views and criticism of what she characterizes as all "misogynistic" religions.
