''Ninth'' (stylized as ''NINTH'' in Japan) is the ninth studio album by Japanese visual kei rock band the GazettE, released on June 13, 2018 in the US and Japan by Sony Music Records and in the UK, Europe and Russia by JPU Records. When the album was released as a download, ''Ninth'' topped the iTunes rock charts in Belarus, Finland, France, Hungary, Poland, Turkey and Sweden, and reached top ten in Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia and Spain. The band also charted the Billboard world chart for the first time, with the album placing 7th in its first week. Biography 2002: Conception and early work The band began in 2002 with Ruki (vocals), Reita (bass) and Uruha (lead guitar) in Kanagawa Prefecture. After being involved with other bands in the visual kei movement, the trio decided that the Gazette would be their last band. They recruited Aoi (second guitar) and Yune (drums) from disbanded visual band Artia and formally became the Gazette in January 2002. The band name is an intentional misspelling of . Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Nu Metal
Nu metal (sometimes stylized as nü-metal, sometimes called aggro-metal) is a subgenre of that combines elements of heavy metal music with elements of other music genres such as hip hop, alternative rock, funk, industrial, and grunge. Before the album was released, the single "Blinding Hope" was released on March 10, 2021. Visual Kei
is a movement among Japanese musicians that is characterized by the use of varying levels of make-up, elaborate hair styles and flamboyant costumes, often, but not always, coupled with androgynous aesthetics, similar to Western glam rock. Some Western sources consider visual kei a music genre, with its sound usually related to glam rock, punk rock and heavy metal. Its first release was ''Division'' by popular Japanese visual kei rock band The Gazette, followed by the 2013 album '' Beautiful Deformity.''
